Look at these, a design student created them for her B.A. Masters project. I think they are ridiculously cool, and the illustrations are very unique. If they were ever produced, I would buy them.

... Is the bat one for Half-Blood Prince? Hahahaha. Oh, fanon, how deep your claws have sunk.

Anyway, the artwork is beautiful, it fits the books well. I also like that they glow in the dark. I would totally buy them.

I would almost definitely plop down $80 for that box set.

What is the symbol on the Half Blood Prince, I can work out the rest, but that one I cant see what the item it. Its not a book or a Horcrux.

Yay for the covers, but a definite no for the in-book art (especially for not keeping proper page format).

The covers for years 5 and 6 don't work for me, though. 5 because the blood quill looks way too innocuous and 6 because I have no idea what that totem thing is.

It's not blood quill. According to this, it's a phoenix feather. And that second to last is not a totem (it looks like it, though). It's supposed to be a bat. It should represent Snape. Personally, I don't like it very much. These illustrations look kind of childish.

That's ridiculous. It also shows how non-obvious these two are. Fawkes had very little to do with book 5 (except for eating a killing curse, I guess, but it wasn't very dramatic for him). A prophecy orb or the veil would be much better. Even a dementor, although that would be ambiguous with year 3. As for the bat, I guess if you squint your eyes, it is kinda like a bat - or a sleeping vampire, but it requires too many conclusion jumps to me (totem ⟶ bat ⟶ Snape ⟶ Book 6).

Still, I'll probably buy the set, I don't the books in English yet, this may be a good occasion. I just hope they'll remove the in-book illustrations and fix the books I have problem with.

The covers are great as I find the simplicity of this design style much more appealing than the covers from Germany. Regarding the illustrations inside the book, I agree with KrazQ though. They're unnecessary and would most definitely jar me out of the narrative the moment I notice them.

Still, for the covers alone I'd probably shell out some money.

I don't like them. They're too gimmicky, and seriously, popup cutouts?

A reprint of the HP series illustrated with the Pottermore artwork, on the other hand, would be awesome.

They would look really nice on my bookshelf, and I don't mind the illustrations inside the book though I could do without them.

I think the prophecy orb would look too much like a crystal ball. The feather is meh. She could go with the whole phoenix would be less confusing.

I saw the bat as a symbol for the cave that Dumbledore takes Harry to for the Horcrux. I just don't see why a bat would represent Snape.

Anyway, neat project. Wouldn't buy them, and not because I don't like them.

I just don't spend money on art.

Mostly cool. Though I have to say that the Phoenix feather is a bit boring and the bat is just stupid. A highly stylised bird would be better than the feather I think.

I have no idea what you'd do for the Half-Blood Prince. I'm tempted to just say a crown or something.

My first thought on seeing the level of illustration in the books was "that's nice, but how gigantic would the later books be?" They're already pushing the limits of sensible books as it is.

A book would be the ideal HBP "object"; I'd think, given that the Potions book was the connection to the title for most of the fic.

    Alternatively a pensieve.

    Or a chestburster.

I think if I'm going to buy new copies of the books (and I should, at some point) I'm just going to get those new Scholastic versions.

I already own the books, why would I buy new copies? Seems pointless.

I don't know about you, but I read my paperback copy of Goblet of Fire so many times it's missing the front and back covers and starts on the first page of the actual story.

Oh I read them a lot as well, I just take good care of them because books are expensive.

I thought it was the astronomy tower at first, I'd say that would be a good HBP cover

Also, a phoenix feather isn't a good item for the cover of Order of the Phoenix? What the fuck are you on about.

That site that said bat for Snape also thinks the basilisk is just an S, so I think it's written by someone with no concept of the artist's intent

I would buy this set myself, but I like the Pottermore art idea more.
