Except for the Half Blood Prince cover art the other designs are cool. But I wouldn't buy the set because I grew out of pop-up books before I even turned 4.

If you're talking about Order of the Phoenix - the group of people, how is it connected to a phoenix? They fight (so to speak) Voldemort, they don't use phoenixes, they aren't helped by them, they don't do it in the name of a phoenix, there's virtually no connection except that their leader didn't want to create Order of Dumbledore, because that'd make him another Grindelwald or so. The only time we even see a phoenix in OotP is when Fawkes eats Voldemort's killing curse. So, yeah, I think that a phoenix's feather is just as good illustration of book 5 as a philosopher would be for book 1.

Blood quill, on the other hand, is an important and recognizable part of that book's plot. I may not like the way it was drawn (especially since it wasn't drawn as that), but I can easily see how it reflects the book.

A phoenix feather is a pretty obvious reference to the novel the has said mythical creature in the title, especially if the goal is just to differentiate between the seven HP books.

How is the Order of the Phoenix connected to a phoenix? Well apart from the obvious name association which you seem determined to ignore, maybe the fact that their leader keeps a phoenix around had something to do with it.

I think they are really quite beautifully done, granted her simplified style is not my type of thing, but I can appreciate them none the less. They are after all children books, I started reading them around the age of 9 or so, 9 year old me would have loved the clean and clever pop up bits and the glowing filigree covers. They amount to her masters dissertation, they are meant to showcase her skills, not become a commercial product, and in that I think she succeeds quite well.

A phoenix, possibly, though I really don't see how can it reflect anything from the book except for the title - and even that only as long as you don't know the plot. A feather/quill - not without some heavy assumptions being made (kind of like bat for Snape).

Book one has an "obvious name association" to a philosopher. I seriously hope you wouldn't say that a philosopher would be a good fit for book one.

Well, that's great. The leader of the group has a pet that we get to see once in that book and it's not a game changer, nor is it new.

tl;dr: there's (almost) no phoenix in "Order of the Phoenix".

I agree, the feather and the bat are stupid symbols. For 5th year I would go with maybe something with blood or the arch. For sixth year maybe the Pensieve or the dark mark.

    Also: Hungarian design. yay.

I would use a crystal ball (or prophecy orb) for book 5. It's easier to relate a crystal ball to divination and the impact it has on the entire story than a feather associated with the mascot from the arbitrarily chosen name of an organization. Book 6 I would use the Dark Mark.

I have to admit, the covers at least are fairly classy looking compared to the original ones. Don't mind the glow in the dark aspect too much either but that pop up artwork needs to go were I going to buy it as a set. Definitely second the Pottermore art idea, otherwise no art inside would be fine as well.

All theoretical of course, considering this isn't actually commercially available sigh.

    Who does those though?

I rather like Mary GrandPre's stuff myself.
