Hmm, you could always cut of his connection to the fade, thus making him a tranquil.

    ... ... ... ...

Wait scratch that, I just remembered that's from Dragon Age.

Because he's lurked long enough to know that posting this question without noting that he thought Magical Cores were absurd would get him flamed?

Hmmmm.... does a witch's magic reside in her ovaries or in her breasts? If wrinkles really are a deciding factor then I'd say in her breasts - that would also explain Prof. McGonagall's abilities.

Now... is there any canon hint on Umbridge's cupsize?

Don't be silly, girls don't have magic of their own. They get their magic from men. When they're born, they have some magic from their father's sperm to last them until they get married. After they are married, they must regularly get sperm from their husband to keep their magic. Preferably orally.

Of course, Dumbledore derives much of his power through oral ingestion.

    ...

Don't tell that in front of a slash fangirl...

How's Harry going to compete with Voldemort's magic? By blowing Snape.

The Chosen One is actually Lavender Brown.

She's got a fair amount of magic stored up by her 7th year.

Edit: On topic, the best way to take Draco Malfoy's magic away is to prevent him from giving out more blowjobs.

Ah, I see. The "Camel effect". Her two storage units enable her to siphon off as much magic as possible during her youth and then she can live on it when she is older.

That's saying a lot about McGonagall's school days.

Verizon, AT&T, and other companies have actually put caps on much magic one can use in a month. Surprised you didn't see it on the cover sheet of the TPS report that was sent out.

I was too busy reading the article about Congress trying to make a deal on raising the cap on magic debt.

Personally, I think we owe China enough magic as it is. We need to rebalance our magical core ballsack. We've got barely enough to feed our women right now.

Since it's obvious that even if there is no canon example of someone's magic being 'bound' or otherwise taken away, a writer of fanfiction can easily produce one, I hazard the OP's question is more related to ideas on how to accomplish this.

I once read a story in which Harry, captured by Voldemort, was drained of his magic by surprisingly material means. The author imagined that magic is an almost physical substance, a viscous, yellow fluid produced by...some organ only wizards have? I dunno - and flows through the blood stream. Death Eaters poked Harry with an obscenely large magical syringe and just drained the fluid out of him.

This story was fucking terrible and it doesn't do to rehash other fanfic writers' specific ideas anyway, but I found the idea of magic-as-physical-thing intriguing just because that's not how I am accustomed to thinking about it. (Reading some of the other replies in this thread I wonder if I'm the only one for whom this is a novel idea :p).

Anyway. You could do something similar, tweaking it to make it yours. Perhaps 'the magic is in the blood' more literally. The heart could be a magic-containing organ - or if that strikes you as too magical core-esque, the channel through which life and magic are bestowed on the wizard. Muggles can only avail themselves of the life-giving properties of the blood, the higher functions being barred to them. In that case something trivial as a heart attack might be sufficient to strip a wizard of his magic, or at least cause him difficulties. This would also make for a nice tie-in with some sort of blood magic.

Or maybe it's genetic, as Rowling has hinted (stated?). In that case the method could be to expose a person to magically-controlled doses of radiation, to mutate that shit into unusable forms. Magical cancer, anyone?

And so on. Sky's the limit.

Potions, can bottle glory. Bottling someone's magical discharges wouldn't even be a challenge.

As it turns out, we have a canon example of this. Lockhart Obliviated the knowledge of magic (and everything else, it seems) from himself.

Sounds to me like he maxed out on awesome and decided to once again challenge himself, by resetting his game to zero. If I've understood correctly, "Come at him, bro!" is the only phrase he left in his memory...

As long as the HP fandom is capable of spawning threads like this, it's still got plenty of life left. :awesome

Despite you being a troll, I'm gonna bring your attention to "Other People's Magic," although kinda like Candyman, just mentioning that fic might summon the author in here to scream at us.
