The only place I would be "Afraid" to post is politics. Thats because if you havent spent years studying something and don't have time to state references for your opinion (Which is odd since opinions don't need reference) you get slamed.

Our politics forum is not about people and opinions anymore its about who can get the most supporting evidence and the best insults. No wonder its pretty much dead and boring now.

I've been around just over a year now and feel comfortable posting most places. The only time I have been negged in the last months has been for my shit house spelling/grammar.

Most of the time when you see someone do something stupid you now they are going to get slammed for it.

I must say, I do not have much motivation to post in the politics forum as well, mainly because of what TEAOS mentioned, the need for evidence and the inacceptance of personal opinion.

Weeding out newbies is one of the important foundations of DLP, but I think it should not be the Introductory threads where it happens. They should be made aware of their potential shortcomings and how they should behave on the forums, but not rejected outright.

E.g., we do accept slashers, as long as they dount flaunt it or praise slash fics anywhere. But it is an important information that should be mentioned in the introduction. Just tell 'em not to talk about it in the forums, or to clean up their spelling, or to stop talking like a hillbilly. As long as they clean up their act, they can still become valued members of the community.
