Let it be known that the Court Jester, his most excellent, BioPlague who is also Saruman who sometimes is Jack Sparrow who is on occasion known as Hermione received the most reputation points, legitimately (*coughMidknightcheatedandboostedhisscorecough*).

    It was 1670, I believe.

I know I personally got tired of folks bitching and whining nonstop about it, waving their epeens about it. We all got spammed constantly because some newbie didn't feel they deserved -100 for a single typo in their intro post, shit like that.

It was just something a great lot of folks showed the need to abuse, so screw it.

I've received too many PMs to count about rep. I'm tired of it. We're tired of it.

It's practically the same as postcount anyway. There's no way for someone with 1000 posts to be in the red, just as there's no way for someone with 100 posts to have more than several points (on the meter). Kaishek was probably one of the few who had 200+ posts and was still red...

For some people, it was just a method of catharsis.

Good good. Maybe we'll get some people to show their own opinions.

Quick question. It was disabled before... what had you guys put it back in? seems like it was only a replay of what happened before.

    Hahaha....

When I saw that there was no rep window in CP, I though Sree was fucking with my account again...

Not really bad thing, I'd say, we'll see what it brings

It's going to be amusing, getting used to not seeing those little green (or, in a few cases red) boxes under people's names.

That said...this is probably a good idea. Who knows, some people may actually try to go into the Politics subforum now. I still won't, but I'm not a representation of the whole.

It was only neg rep that was disabled before. This time the whole system is gone.

Surely if rep didn't matter then there'd be no such thing as rep abuse?

Meh, I don't really mind. It was a fun system but won't really make that much difference to the site.

    P.S. I had 697.

All in all, I'm glad rep is gone.

Rep was all too often given out for pointless reasons (I myself received and issued rep that had no real bearing on the topic(s) mentioned. I mean, I got rep for a laugh in one of the pointless Games threads for crying out loud. >_<). Negrep was also given to posts with small typos, or even the use of certain emotes.

An opinion on a discussion board is necessary for any discussion to occur, and reputation hampered that discussion by giving forum users an option to 'punish' someone with a differing viewpoint, or 'reward' someone with a similar viewpoint. People started thinking that just because they had more rep points than someone else, their opinion was more valid. In the end most of us got caught up with how many points we had - so badly in fact that people would whine to the administrators about it.

Do we really need little green boxes telling us if our post was relevant or not, or conformed to the beliefs of other users or not?
