And makes me ship Harry/Luna/Draco, which most of you would hate.

 

Would anyone be interested in creating a series of oneshots based off these ideas? (And allow people to develop these ideas if they choose)

I was thinking something similar to Sliders as well. The first chapter can be Harry (and whomever) getting trapped in an alternate dimension. Each chapter can be a different universe as they try to find their way home. It will be made up of different DLP authors over the years.

 

That'd be like a dream come true for me. I so want to read something like that.

You know, a thought occurred to me.

Why not have the reality exploration Ministry-sanctioned and done in the style of Stargate-SG1?

Post-DH, Auror Harry is selected to lead a team in a new project created by the Unspeakables. They cannot interfere in the affairs of other worlds, their mission is strictly observation and potential retrieval of useful items and magics.

However, their world is not the only one which discovered reality travel. It appears it was also discovered in one of the Voldemort-Won dimensions. Soon, both sides have to start gathering allies, leading to an inter-dimensional war.

 

Paid servants? Why not outright slavery? It is not like they have no cheap mind control (children are able to do this without any significant issues, see Draco and Hermione). Slavery exists for an entire recorded history, and considering it Evil is a relatively new thing.

It may be nice to see story with adult learning magic, rather than ridiculous mix of part adult, part child that usually appears as authors attempt to depict "intelligent" or "smart" characters (see HPMOR).

Children get extra attention from everyone if it looks like they are gay. They say that people with lots of children (like the Weasleys) must not be very good at magic. The stereotype of muggles is of heterosexual sex maniacs.

 

If you don't mind going old school (and by that I mean 2002-era fanfiction), Cygnus Crux did it with Existence After Life and sequels. About 700k words in all.

The story is Harry/Ginny, though was written well before canon went that way. (It predates Order of the Phoenix.)
