Opinion: I think Beth left.
Yeah, seems likely that she did. Solid episode all around. Jerry keeps on being Jerry as well.
Surprising info on Beth though, that she was like that as a child but maybe not so much in hindsight.
Wonder if we'll get snippets into her solo adventures.
Good episode, the whole fantasy world went differently than I imagined in the previews.
I like Rick's whole argument "I'm a terrible father, but you're just like me."
She's always operated under this whole I'm not like my father mentality and she finally grasps it. If she left then so be it, I imagine they probably wont' say anything again until some later point, tbh. That has a makings of a longer spanning plot line than one episode. Or they'll do like they normally do, and she shows back up and we get to hear about it rather than see what her adventures were like.
Honestly, I thought she asked for a clone-Rick but stayed.
I don't know how to approach this season. I feel like I'm largely watching it for the characters at this point - it's gotten way less funny. Some of the storylines have been good individually, but I feel together they lose something by doubling down on its themes. This one in particular felt very meh.
One of the things I'm noticing is that Rick is becoming less and less likable to me. He's like what an edgy fourteen year old thinks is cool. A lot of his lines this episode really illustrated this for me. Specifically his bit at the end.
"Am I evil?"
"Worse, you're smart."
These writers are stupid. And worse, they think they're smart. I only like Rick's I'm14andthisisdeep style nihilism when the writers are using it purely for humor, or to get across how miserable his view of the world makes him.
These past two episodes were kinda meh, especially after the Ricklantis Mixup.
I feel as though you are expecting too much out of the show, lol. Or rather, your expectations differ from the reality the show tries to impart.
I never get the 'oh the show is trying to be smart' vibe that a lot of people seem to do.
Eh, fair enough. I mainly just disliked it because the scene wasn't all that funny to me. That image however - that is hilarious.
It wasn't supposed to be funny, I don't think.
I took it as Rick telling Beth what she wanted/needed to hear.
Oh yeah, I know that. As I said before, I just don't really enjoy Rick's nihilism unless it's funny.
What kind of a fucking finale is that supposed to be?
I sure hope they're trolling us.
Yeah, that was horrible. Worst episode ever. It was just too... same-y. The subversions rang hollow.
The way everything was handled was so not the Rick and Morty we've all come to know and love, the Beth stuff especially. I can't stand that she broke the 4th wall. Very disappointed. It's almost made me lose the avid interest I've had in the show since Evil Morty made a come back.
Ricklantis Mixup probably should have been the finale. They could have easily put it at the end of the season, instead of in the middle.
It just feels like there is another four episodes. Which they were slated for 14 so they probably did end it mid Arc. Kind of annoying and I imagine a bunch of people will be mad considering the hype train that's barreling down the tracks.
Unless they really are trolling us and we'll get a real finale this year.
Yeah. Damn. That just wasn't very good. Pretty big let down after the evil Morty episode.
Got done with this recently. Incredible show.
The humor hits all the juvenile and adult buttons that it can hit, and the way the cast plays off each other is amazing. Also, Cyril Figgis as the voice for Jerry is about the greatest thing the show could've done. It just fits so beautifully I want to cream myself everytime I hear it.
On a more serious note, there were some bits that actually touched me deep down there, in my black heart. Rick handing himself in during the finale of the second season was one such bit.
Ah, and of course, guest voices: nothing beats the sudden Jon Oliver (scientist in the intestine theme park), or Stephen Colbert (Rick-like genius that developed on the world Rick created to power his battery). Mass Effect 3 also has some good candidates: Fem!Shep for Jerry's blue alien huntress rebound; and Captain Anderson for the President.
I was a bit disappointed by the final episode too. That said, it had a few things I appreciated. Specifically Rick's fight with the president. The fact that we heard about all the rooms in the white house earlier in the episode, and then got to see all of them during the fight was cool. Plus all the other small details were cool too. My favorite bit was the fake moon landing studio. I actually paused a few times throughout the fight just to look at the stuff in the background.
This come up in my news feed on Google. Seems legit to me. Thoughts?
It's possible, but seems more like wishful thinking than anything else IMO.
The more I think about it, the more I like it. There's a lot more to this finale than I first thought.
