I'm not good with riddles, but when I read yours that was the first thought that came to mind.

Paen, was yours actually the sun? If we stand still, we can still see sun light (even durinng the night) and the Earth revolves on it's axis "turning" and pretty much wherever you go there is still sunlight.

Dango, your's is power I guess. Terrorists think they have power over Governments, evil people have power over their minions and religous people believe God gives them poower when they die by allowing them entrance to Heaven.

My own riddle though now. (Fairly easy)

I follows,
I reflect you,
With no eyes, or mouth
Or anything else that makes you you.

I lurk in the darkness,
Hidden from the light.
But light makes me tall
Or short, or non-existent at all

Nope not the Sun, that would not still hold true during the night, you could see the sunlight if you have the Moon out to reflect it back to where you see it and that is not always the case and that would be sunlight not the Sun itself. Not only that but in order for your answer to work you have to be the Earth and the Sun would have to be the speaker, in which case the question would be "What am I and what are you?".

 

Paen: true, it was the first thing that leaped into my mind- probably because I was listening to the weather and was thinking 'Damn Sun'.

Dango: I think you haven't put all the perplexity you could muster into the nut one- we've just wisened up to how you and your riddles work.
