Hey guys, I am starting Rift again, if anybody want's a referral heres my link. I play on the European shards.

I haven't played any MMORPG for years. Although recently I am interested again in MMORPG's. I must admit I am rather curious about Rift due so many positive comments.

I am more of a PvP'er then PvE'er, hence I was wondering whether someone could give their opinion about Rift's PvP mechanics and answer a few questions? Is it balanced? What faction is the winning side (like Horde back in WoW)? Is there a lot of world PvP like Vanilla WoW (Xroads raids ftw) or is it more like loads of BG spam? Is there anything similar like arena?

 

PvP sucks. It's the game's biggest failing. Firstly, you can only queue for warfronts in groups of 5, no more. This annihilates the possibility of guild vs. guild pvp. Second, healing is such a big factor that the group with the most clerics wins, hands down. And clerics are not easy to kill, having the second best armor class in the game.

Another thing that is terrible about pvp is that Trion created a new stat called Valor. This stat reduces damage done by other players by a significant margin, but has no other value in the game, so basically in order to pvp you need to farm the valor pvp gear first. You can not pvp even in end-game raid gear. You will die horribly.

World pvp is terrible because of the Valor stat, because any player looking to pick a fight will be wearing their pvp gear while you, who may be farming, or questing, or any other thing, will not. And you will die.

So, how messed up is the process of gearing up once you hit 50 in your servers? I play on Faemist and it's a nightmare to find a party to run some T1 dungeons. Either there's no one on the queue or people have no idea of what their roles consist of.

I've tried getting people to join a party in the chat, but it usualy consists of 3 other dps waiting for some fully geared guy to take pity of us and help us out.

I'm a full cloro btw, having a heal/support specs since the first dungeon since it's nearly impossible to fill that role.

 

I know it's stating the obvious, but... "resilience" hmmm?

Not that I bothered with WoW beyond a single month that was paid for me by someone else, but I do have a good friend that used to play with quite a bit of dedication(and indicated that he might just get back into it, after a six-month, or more, break... during which he was still paying for it :facepalm).

I believe I remember hearing about resilience functioning somewhat differently now, than it used to, but your description is very similar to what I knew of it before.
