Just looking at his pic makes me hate him. And I've never heard of the character he plays, either. Forgive me if I don't shed a tear.

    Lol, England.

IIRC, Marcus Belby was the boy that Slughorn ignored after he found out that he hadn't seen his famous uncle (who invented the Wolfsbane Potion) in a long time.

But yeah, saw this story yesterday. It's getting ridiculous, the amount of stabbings going on at the moment.

First I've heard of stab-happy England.

I guess gun-control really does work.

Deliberate killings are a fact of life. Accidental killings, on the other hand, are remarkably easier when you've got a firearm or two around the house, especially when you mix in a low IQ. Whether you think this is a valid argument for gun control depends on whether you look upon this as Darwinism at work or not.

More than anything, I was ridiculing the fact that gun-control stops violent crimes from happening. Nothing would change that. Every weapon could be put under control, and people would be killing each other will hairspray and lighters. Of course, that's not taking into account the vast black-market arms industry that gun-control creates.

You can still kill people with knives and even your hands, but never quite as easily as with a gun.

That gun control reduces murder rates is irrefutable: even if you don't think it is logical, the statistics speak for themselves. There have been many threads on DLP about gun control where this has been demonstrated.

The main argument against gun control is not that gun control does not reduce crime, but that it is the right of the people to bear arms, despite the fact that taking away that right would make society safer.

The old Franklin temporary safety vs. essential liberty quote.

Yeah, I can't really argue with the statistics. Nonetheless, I find myself on the side of essential liberties.

I saw this on the news a couple of days ago. I managed to convince my sister it was Rupert Grint that had died.

    Good times.:)

Pity. Twats who carry knives ought to be castrated.

Not everyone. I carry a small flip-knife around for protection, thats generally because i'm not well liked by chavs in my area. I would rather carry a sword or a bow but they're quite noticable.

Yes everyone. If nobody carried a knife, nobody else would need to. If you need a knife 'for protection' from someone without a knife, then you deserve a good kicking.

Myself, I prefer a hand taser or a stun baton. Those things kick ass.

So true, but alas people in this world cannot survive without violence. I personally have never had to use my knife, and I couldn't care less about using it on someone without a knife, it's the people with knives that I worry about.

Never actually played WoW, just a somewhat fanatic elf-fan and LOTR fan. Also, I did quite a few fencing lessons and took part in archery when I was on holiday. Very interesting sport actually.

I'd prefer a wand that actually works, but we can't all have everything, however a stun baton would be interesting, one like the ones out of Demolition Man perhaps?
