Well, I think it is understandable for people to care about what they look like. They shouldn't put it above everything else, perhaps; every organism's first instinct is to preserve the species, and that is a good deal more difficult if you are not what the other half of the species wants. Like peacocks.

 

She's absolutely right. It makes sense that it's on her website. Kids look up to her and will probably listen to her. Unfortunately the target for this is teenage girls and while some may respect her, they'd rather hear this from supermodels. Sadly most supermodels have their own...problems :cough Naomi Campbell/Kate Moss cough:and wouldn't be sensible enough to tell girls to stop starving themselves. We discussed this issue before and I think most of us agreed that we'd prefer a non-skeleton.

 

This is obvious. Its like saying, "Murders are BAD! I don't support murderers!"

Really? Does this even need to be said? Of COURSE, girls shouldn't be so obscessed with their weight, and a lot of the pressure to be thin is coming from WITHIN the female community. Ladies, you ALL look good!

 

And if she hates conformity so much she should really look at the way her writing is headed.

you're being very insensitive. obviously she doesn't want to conform to your medieval views.

 

obviously she doesn't conform to any rational persons idea of even marginally good looking.

Now don't get me wrong, Im not against over wieght people, I am clinically obese myself, so I can't really be against overweight folk. But she is just beyond the pale so to speak. It must take a deliberate decision not to try and loose weight to get that big, or she is highly unlucky and has several diseases that cause her to put on wieght.

I jsut have to ask, what is the need to put a disturbing pic like that up on the thread?
