Awesome. High hopes that this would be good, having watched the trailer. But the actor playing Saito better be awesome. Or else it'd ruin the movie for me.D:

Love the OVAs even more than the anime.

    Relevant Necro.

I don't know if you guys know this but a new Kenshin OVA was released recently that recounts the Kyoto arc from Misao's point of view, its actually pretty good, especially the animation and improved more fluid animation.

The OVA is meant to be comprised of three parts, with the second part to be released next summer.

Enjoy and what are your thoughts:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rox307fhp4E

I'm not sure what I'm reading. But this is not Rurouni Kenshin.

I kind of have to agree with this.

I just finished the second chapter and... it's kind of like a bizarre parody of Rurouni Kenshin, trying almost desperately to present itself seriously. I'd rather they just ran the original series again then try to present it with a new spin.

    This is an embarrassment.

The creator trying to recapture his glory, and failing miserably.

I remember thinking that it was pretty good way back when, but this doesn't seem to jive with what I remember of it as far as the early plot goes.

*shrug* Yahiko's role seems to have changed but his character seems similar at least in terms of personality. I remember liking his character.

Doubt I'll be following this unless I hear wonderful/marvelous reviews of it. It's too similar on one hand and too different on another.

It's subtitled the Cinema Edition, a companion comic to the new movie that's coming out. Or is it out already? I've been seeing more billboards with the RuroKen banner out in town.

Kenshin hasn't aged well at all. The only part of that franchise that has remained excellent is Trust and Betrayal. The manga, the TV anime, they were a product of their time, and their time has passed.

I wouldn't go that far. I read the manga for the first time last year and had to pace myself from rushing through it. I enjoyed it quite a lot - more so than Bleach at the time, that's for sure.

That. Looking back it seems so very...cheerful/over-simplified.

Now the reboot - story issues aside, the artwork almost gave me a headache. Too many straight jagged lines. Followed by too many round cheerful people. Followed by too many straight jagged line. And that fight scene...just stop already.

Even if I digest the more...stereotypical anime parts (from a bygone era) of the story, the artwork leaves much to be desired. And I probably won't read for much longer unless it improves.
