“Blab-” DC started, but Blab hit him in the stomach with his gauntlet and ran.

“Hey!” Fable yelled, and he and Stanari ran after him, DC following a few meters behind, holding his stomach because ow. Blab rounded the corner and disappeared into the open doors of the RWBY Museum.

Fable got out his umbrella. “He’s armed,” he warned, but Stanari’s hammer was already in hand and DC held up his trumpet. “Alright, then. Let’s go!”

They entered and the hall was alight with color. A statue stood in the middle of a very cute puppy and beyond was a forest of paintings and art pieces, creating dark shadows along the marble.

“Split up!” Stanari said, but DC grabbed her arm.

“No, if we’re going to do this, we’ll do this right,” he said. “Together.”

“Center path!” Fable said.

In the next gallery, depictions of their past leered as them as they crept quietly. In watercolor, Jan flew to the clouds on angel wings, tears streaming down his cheeks. It was titled: ‘N1 Killed Again Lawl.’ Next to it, Miner looked done with living as the bouncy castle surrounded him in free fall, stars twinkling out the window. In the next room, a papermache scene of Vaimes shooting Waco took center-stage, a little snake curling around Vaimes’ shoulders. At the end in charcoal, Font cradled Kai’s body, staring him dead in the eyes that spoke of murder in their next life.

“Where is Blab?” Stanari said, raising her hammer.

“There’s a new installation at the back,” DC said, and all three nodded at each other, readying their weapons.

Now or never.

In the final hallway, Stanari stopped at a paper hanging on the wall, encased in an intricate golden flame. The paper had been there for some time, the edges worn, but you could still see what was written.

The plaque below it read:

‘No One Noticed ;_;’​

“Man,” Stanari breathed. What else had they missed?

“Stanari!”

Stanari caught up and stopped at the last door with the others.

“Are we sure Blab’s the last scum?” Stanari said, but when she looked into Fable and DC’s eyes, she saw their innocence, their love.

“We’ve fought a lot this game,” DC said, “Hey, we nearly mislynched each other! But now we’re here. Together. Guys, even if Blab has some last ditch power that will make us lose, we’ve worked hard. I think it’s okay to die if we die together.”

Stanari wiped tears from her eyes, and Fable clasped DC on the shoulder, which he returned. “Forget dying,” Fable said. “We’re going to win. No more of this lynching nonsense. We’ve struggled, we’ve suffered, and we’ll beat him and win, like it should be.”

They hugged, then, in that little hall and when they turned to the door, they entered as one.

And stopped.

Blab was dead on the floor, long gold hair a tangle. A gun that he had obviously found laid feet away, and his gauntlets were cracked.

DC picked a bloody note off the ground.

‘I’m tired and see the end,’ it said. ‘Farewell.’

“Suicide,” DC said aloud, letting the paper flutter from his hand. “Scum have finally given up. We’re free.”

But Stanari wasn’t looking at the body.

She was looking at the two centermost paintings.

’So You Think You’re A Wolf?’​

’Haha.’​

Stanari opened her mouth only to get hit on the back of the head. She pushed herself to her elbows, and saw DC tripping back over Blab’s body in an attempt to get space.

It did not matter.

“You know what’s best about struggle?” Fable said, twirling his umbrella. “Do you know what’s best about your scum team imploding one after another?”

He grinned.

A blade extended from the umbrella.

“It’s winning in the end.”
