You mean negated as in strategically speaking? Also, I was talking about the scene where she assumes that Cinder and Mercury are already down, she exposes her back to them. Not a good idea at all.

Not a good idea but a necessary one. Rewatching the fight I feel she clearly recognized Emerald as the priority due to her perception control. Without it Cinder's team was very much losing the fight.

I don't know about Blake but at the end of the fight when it switches to Qrow's perspective you can see that Cinder's face has been hazed out. Meaning Emerald can take effect nearly instantly.

I rewatched the fight too, it seems that she was far too banged up to actually execute a better plan. She could've just floated again and taken a better position to fight against them had she had enough Aura remanining (it's Aura she's using, right?). Or, you know, throw lightning at them.

Edit: I think she prioritized Emerald as well, she was the real ace in the fight.

Hmm. Cinder's arrow trap gave us an aura ripple, so she was probably nearly out of aura as well.

Mercury's whole leg issue was pretty cool, and Emerald's semblance is terrifying. I seriously want just a little more info about Mercury's past though. Instead we get nyan-cat. Ugh.

The eye effect on the maiden was definitely terrible. Hopefully they fix it in the blu-ray release or something.

The new episode deals with the fallout.

Interesting how the sole result is just disqualification.

I didn't miss the fighting at all, although the next episode should have two interesting ones.

Mark my words, Jaune will get the Maiden's power.

It looks like it will be an interesting episode.

I'm not liking the schitzo tone much.

The jumping back and forth from happiness to tragedy and back again does my head in.

Ruby has connected the dots though. This is going to end very badly.

After a slow start to the season, things seem to have hit their stride. The introduction of magical girls still has me concerned, but I'm going to give it a chance. Rooster Teeth could stick to cliches but make something fun, or they could avoid the cliches and put an interesting spin on that overdone idea.

Hopefully nothing terrible happens to Pyrrha - all the predictions in the fandom of death, possession, or a split-personality disorder make me sad. My cards are on coma girl dying, Cinder taking her full power, and then being beaten by RWBY - so one of the team will be the last person in her thoughts, and therefore inherit the magic.

I'd be happier if we didn't get a team of magical girls, though. Huntresses are already awesome. I just can't help but see that there are four title characters and four maidens in the tale. That's never coincidental in an anime.

And part of me wants to believe that Ozpin is the old man from the fairytale. It seems to fit with his mysterious past and the hints that he's older than anyone thinks, but then again, there are already so many crackpot theories about him. Monty said in an interview once that characters' fate isn't tied to their namesakes, so I hold out hope that Ozpin's more like Gandalf than Oz.

Finally. A slow start to this episode but some decent plot advancement that isn't a cop out finally happens, or is about to happen. The last few episodes were starting to make the show meh, this one picked it up again. Actually looking forward to next week now instead of just 'I'll watch it when I remember.'

    Bring on some Ruby action.

It should be up now. I rather liked this episode. Lots of feels but not in a bad way. Qrow may have delivered the best line in the entire series.

Pyrrha's actress has gotten a lot better but she's still.... Sorta bad xD

This probably joins the final ep of Season 1 as my favourite RWBY episode.

Lot to like in this episode. Probably the first episode where I've really felt a level of high tension/intensity in it.

While the dialogue was a bit cringe worthy and the visual acting was a bit awkward, two big feels moments with Yang talking to her team along with Pyrrah talking to Jaune. I'll also say that's the first time I've actually LIKED Jaune in a scene.

I'm really glad that Raven is shaping up to match my mental image of her crafted by Ryuugi in The Games We Play as this sort of badass "with a different view of the world".

The last scene with Mercury was put together pretty well too. From a scene construction point of view, probably one of the better scenes in RWBY so far.

I'm really looking forward to watching this in Japanese with good voice actresses. Pyrrah was awful, and even Yang (who's usually quite good) came off bad this episode.

Really liked this one, which is good, because I haven't really liked any of the episodes since the the magic girls reveal. Still don't quite like Emerald being an illusionist (feel like it cheapens Neo's uniqueness), but everything else is starting to shape up nicely. Kind of hoping Pyrrah doesn't get screwed over by Emerald, but since it would complete the downward spiral started in this one I feel it's likely Ruby will be just a little too late.

EDIT: Agree on the voice acting btw, gonna be nice when it gets dubbed with some good actors/actresses.

Some of the best character development and interactions we've seen yet, and of course it would be accompanied by the poorest VA performance in over a season.

As for Pyrrha, I think she's going to unintentionally tear Penny apart.

    New episode up for patrons.

Predicted by many, but interesting to see it actually happen. The show has been hinting at dark plans for a while, and now they're actually showing it.

Poor Penny. I blame you entirely for predicting her death.

She can be rebuilt... I hope

That was horrifying. I'm not sure Cinder's facade will hold up for long though.

Great episode, though it amuses me how much destruction half a dozen people can cause.

Yeah... I really hope we get to see Ozpin kick some ass and if this is resolved as easily as in season 2, I'm going to be frothing with rage. Neeeo <3
