    Yeah, wow. What an episode.

Given the general kid friendly feel of the rest of the show, showing a character bisected in the middle of a stadium really gives you the same sense of shock that everyone else in the stadium would have been feeling. While we all knew Penny was gonna be fucked, didn't think it'd be that brutal.

Cinder's plan for the Vytal Festival has surprisingly felt suitably climatic, unlike her Season 2 plot to release Grimm in the city (which was very meh). Hopefully it stays at that level.

Episode had a great vibe to it. Really gave off that feeling of "oh, shit..."

That said, Cinder's oh so edgy speech was cringe inducing. Felt a bit too... blunt... for a character that has, up until now, preferred to calmly work from the shadows. I understand the need to create negativity to attract the grimm, but... seriously? It's not a speech that would sway anyone halfway intelligent, even for a moment. Not nearly charismatic enough. Which is fair, I wasn't expecting iron curtain level speech writing from RT, but... It felt stilted. Perhaps they just built up Cinder too much, cause I just wasn't feeling it.

Everything else was pretty much awesome, though.

To be honest, Cinder was never going to live up to what RT had in mind. I knew that from the moment she first spoke.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if her Japanese VA has been revealed yet?

    Evaporating corpses still annoys me.

First half felt a bit weak, the second half was much better. Mostly I think because of the Ruby-Pyrrha-Penny thing, also because of the "everyone we've seen teams up to fight" thing they did. Having the other school students lose their heads and only the people we've seen so far fight was boring.

Emerald is beginning to have doubts. I know people over on /co/ predicted that.

The robots being completely ineffective was disappointing. It seems only huge mechs are in any way useful.

Still don't know Cinder's motivations. I'm beginning to think she is in it for the lols.

How much shorter would this episode have been if they cut all the bits where characters pose for the camera? 5 minutes?

Not going to lie, the first time they posed, cheesy at it was, loved it. Next time(s) were unnecessary though.

The Games We Played called this, right, with the Dragon sleeping in the mountain or something like that?

So, pretty good episode, all around. I liked it. Some good Ruby action, liked what Blake and Weiss were up to, the rest got two cool group poses (a bit wasted, really, but hey, there is only so much animation a studio of their size can do and that's what fanfiction is for) and things went FUBAR all around with Dragons, Grimm and GrimmDragons.

And we have some pretty interesting things set up for next episode. Ruby vs Neo and Roman, Cinder and her kids going after Ozpin, Pyrrha and Jaune, Blake vs Adam, Weiss against a shitton of Grimm and Mechs, the rest vs Grimm/Dragon and who knows what Yang’s up to. Can’t imagine her going off and letting Ruby fight on her own, but I do think Raven dropped by for a talk.

Unless Yang is just fighting regular troops but if so, why not show her doing that? No, think it’s something Raven related.

Also, interesting concept, if Vale and Beacon get destroyed this season, next season(s) might be about RWBY and JNPR trying to reclaim their kingdom and school, in a Warcraft like fashion where the humans tried to regain their old kingdom. Would take us out of school, at least, introduce more variety. Even if they don't, should be a great launching point for fanfiction.

And I can't say how much I'm looking forward to the Japanese dub.

But yeah, looking forward for the next episode. Good fun.

    God, this episode was terrible.

The pacing was all over the place. Blake and Weiss just standing around with Grimm are tearing up the place and the people in it. No rush, guys.

Why did Ironwood even run towards that Beowolf if he was gonna pull out a gun?

Why did everyone stand on that Grimm? Posing like they were trying to model.

Blake throwing Weiss to the ground to avoid the terrible aiming from the mechs, and then they just laid there for a whole minute. Why aren't the mechs shooting?????????

I am however, fairly certain that Ryuugi is working at Rooster Teeth now.

They did manage to build up the atmosphere of "Oh fuck" reasonably well but there was so much shit that broke immersion.

How hard is it to have them call for their weapons and THEN WAIT and talk while they're doing that. Hell, even make up a bullshit thing about there being a delay. It explains why they can't help and it makes the interaction happening way more tense because they're clearly helpless.

There's too much bullshit happening in fights sometimes. I get that it's anime and that the show has a certain style, but faster isn't always better. Yang's fight in her trailer was great because it was crisp.

At least Ozpin's finally getting ready to kick ass. That's something.

Anyone think we're finally going to see Qrow's scythe with Glynda and Qrow taking on the dragon?

But goddamn, Ruby was badass in this episode.

Seriously, protecting Pyrrha from a Nevermore, jumping out of a moving ship, and riding off on a rocket locker to fight Roman. Holy shit! I mean, she's always been badass, what with her huge scythe, but there's a difference between fighting badass and acting badass.

I've now given up on this show. It's completely gone to shit this season. I wouldn't mind if they proved me wrong, but I'm not holding my breath anymore.

I mainly keep up with the show to have context for various fanfics that sprout off from it.

It's been a good investment so far.;)

I haven't given up yet but my enthusiam is certainly down. I still enjoy the world but it is starting to show clearly this is a third rate production. In fairness to RT they never pretended to be anything else.

The pacing and presentation of scenes is all over the place. Great world, good animation, disjointed story telling. If they had a decent director behind it to show them the way and cut the crap it could be more than a cult hit.

A bit harsh but I'm already thinking what it would of been like if Monty was still involved, or how far he was behind the production of this season and if the reason this season has felt subpar had anything to do with his passing.

We are at the juicy end of s3 so it has it's good moments again, but beyond that I look forward to Syao updating his fic more then seeing the episodes full of filler that made up the regular season of this show, beyond finding out new facts about the world.

Well... I do think they really need to consider getting some people with more experience/skill when it comes to writing and directing if they're doing a fourth season.

RWBY will probably end up a show that's difficult to watch but starts good fanfic.

The execution in RWBY has been pretty disappointing overall. While the fight animation has been fantastic (at least, while Monty was around) everything else - the background art, the voice acting, script, pacing, plot, etc - has ranged from meh to pretty bad.

This episode was a great example of that. From the cheesy pose scenes, to the really bad attempts at trying to put together chaotic battle scenes. The technical aspects of the fights weren't great either (That Grimm charging at Ironwood looked super awkward).

Somehow it's still managed to keep me reasonably entertained to not drop it though. Not really sure why.

What's really keeping me interested is seeing Raven appear. I hope she doesn't let me down.

Alright, saw the latest episode, so heavy spoilers.

First of all, a big step up from the last episode. The pacing was much better.

Adam is a total beast. His appearance didn't impress me last episode but this time he was right on the ball. I admit, i was surprised. I really thought it would be Ruby who would get maimed but Yang was a nice surprise all the same.

So, looks like Cinder is the Fall Maiden now and is working for someone else. I'm still getting the strangest feeling that this mysterious woman is actually Summer Rose. They never did recover the body.

One thing that i find weird, is the fact that Ruby constantly loses Crescent Rose. Really need to get some strings or something and tie it to her body.

Roman dying was rather surprising as well. Ironwood going full Terminator was awesome.

Is Velvet basically a Tracer? Every weapon she takes a photo off, she can manifest?

Overall, yeah, i'd say this was an extremely good episode. Did they change directors or something?
