It's magic in an American highschool, but neither the comic nor the television series ever tried to take itself seriously. The 1996 Melissa Joan Hart version was basically a kitschy CBS show for tweens. The 1999 animation was put through the 'Disney dumb down' to make it more appropriate for the younger elementary school audience.

In my opinion, the only good part of either show was Salem.

Edit: For those who don't know who Salem is, imagine a sarcastic, wise-cracking Voldemort trapped forever in the body of a talking housecat.

 

They should scrap the Sabrina movie and show us how Salem got turned into a cat.

It involves an attempted global takeover.

I'd go see it.

 

Melissa Joan Hart was my earliest crush on an actor. I had a huge thing for her from about 12-17.

I think I would sell my left nut for one night with Late!Teenage Years MJH.

Ehh, but less with the murder and hate and soul-lessness.

Salem had a hell of a lot more style (even as a cat) than Voldemort ever had.

AND he was a genuine threat for World Domination. Not just a couple of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean.
