The sexual relationship is a very small part of the fic. The overly emotional melodramatic dripping-with-angst friendship dominates the series.

"Dripping with angst" really is the only way to describe it. The story is moist.

The author has stated that she gained the discipline, by writing original fiction. And she has written a shitload of it. Over 2 million words of original fantasy in her fictionpress account.

As for the Arc ... you should read it. Yes, it has many frustrating shortcomings, like the slash, the occasionally overflowing angst and (sometimes) simplistic character interaction.

Yet, I've never seen a better crafted, original HP world. The description of a diverse, magical culture along with Harry's growth from slave to leader, are the two things that kept me going back for more.

I remember reading Sacrifices and quite enjoying it a few years ago, but when I was nearing the end of book 5 I went without internet access for a few months and when I came back I couldn't remember a damn thing about the story. Since then I've never been able to muster up the enthusiasm to reread the 2 million or so words in the first five books, so I still don't know how everything ended. Still, I remember my general opinion of the series being favourable, at least up until that point.

I have to say, the Sacrifices Arc remains my favourite fanfiction series. Yes, it's incredibly angsty. Yes, it's quite repetitive in some respects. Yes, there's slash (not an automatic minus for me). Yes, by the end of the series, you could probably edit the names of the characters and locations and market it as original fiction. I still think it's incredible, and I'll recommend it to most people.

    ARGH DIFFERING OPINIONS:fire

I'm going to do this the old-fashioned way and take it into my own hands - ifI can read book1 without strangling myself, I'll continue. Worldbuilding is something I really like in fanfiction and don't really get to indulge in often.

    Halfway through book 1.
    Thoughts:
Start seems like a somewhat generic TwinWhoLived story,though.. it seems a bit creepy.
Writing quality is above average, to be honest.
Erk- wandless magic. He'd better have some damn strong enemies, not like Lestranges. Lawl.
Character interactions aren't exactly typical, but nothing amazing yet. I'll probably have to read into book 2 to pass judgment.

I'm curious, is it original fiction? Do you plan on publishing?

OR is it Sun dog? =D

Finished book 2, started book 3, couple random notes:
I like Remus' potential as a character so far.
Book 2 ending: GAH WTF CHARACTER DEATH ALREADY. Also... FUCK
Book 3 start: what random touching.. bleh

Still, going to keep reading. Not too much angst so far and it's definitely interesting - I'm looking forwards to seeing more of how her system of magic works.

Lol. Early character death is a must, man. Gotta keep the readers on their toes.

Yeah, it's not a bad thing, just not something I'm especially used to. Also, I get the feeling that there's going to be a lot character death later in the stories.

There's a lot of angsty wankfest later in the story. <_<

You know, if Harry didn't have the whole 'Prophecy/love protection giving him a big heart/making him a Gryffindor douche' sort of thing going on, I'd actually expect an abused Harry to be like that...either that, or be a complete avoidant/sociopath.

By all means, keep reading this "wanksty slash-fest" if you like, but for fuck's sake, stop posting your blow-by-blow reactions to it. Nobody gives a fuck about your attention-whoring "OMG it's slash aren't you wondering if I can stand to keep reading? Stay tuned!"

    And yes, pun intended.
