I'm actually reading A Study in Magic now, that's the reason I'm asking for Harry and Neville fics :awesome

 

There's Clell's HP and the Marriage Contracts. After defeating Voldemort with only Neville by his side, Harry, with Neville's help, deals with the unfortunate consequence of being an heroic bachelor- a deluge of Marriage Contracts from witches young and old.

Also features one of my favorite running jokes- Harry and Neville haven't told anyone exactly HOW they defeated Voldemort and the Headmaster (Albus is still alive in this one) is given a multitude of false answers to chew on, mostly drawn from the depths of other fanfictions.

(BTW, he posted a revised version, but I can't remember if it was actually an improvement on the original)

 

Meh.

The major differences (in the magnitude of impact on tone, if not in word count) are the removal of a few certain passages...

Those were the bits chiefly responsible for changing the original from lighthearted romantic comedy to shitstorm-inducing rape drama without skipping a beat, and without warning.

So, while the story still doesn't quite seem to know what genre it wants to be, it at least doesn't come off as being an ambush troll-fic (spoilers) like the first one did.

...characters probably still come off spectacularly boneheaded in a few sections, though.

 

Been looking for a story lately. It's old, old as balls, and probably hasn't aged well. Nevertheless, it was one of the first I read so if anyone can help me find it it'd be much apreciated.

It's about a retardedly powerful Harry, your typical indi!Harry fic back from 2005-2008. I don't think he was the heir to anything, but I could be wrong. It has a sequel. The first story ends with Harry and his allies fighting Voldemort et al in some sort of island. It's a pretty outlandish duel, with plenty of flying and Dumbledore dying there, if I recall correctly. Following that, Harry brews some sort of potion at a particular point in the lunar cycle (no, I've no idea why I remember that) using an artifact (or half of it) that's supposed to do something to him, give him some sort of ability.

 

That's a more than fair assessment. I enjoyed the humorous Harry-Neville stuff much more than the Greengrass rescue.

 

Any decent fics that feature the protagonist or atleast one of the major characters with Schizoid Personality Disorder

 

Aren't all the abused!Harry stories based on the same disorder?

 

Remembered a few more details from that story. At some point Harry is dueling one of his professors in some sort of tournament at Hogwarts. His professor beats him by creating a rent in space, which swallows his spell, and then opens way in the back. It strikes from behind and knocks him out.

I know the story. I think it's Lupin who taught him the spell. I think it has the word "Gryffindor" in the title. And I think it was half an rob or crystal or something. I read it from Wattpad. Searching right now...

Took me a while of intense searching, but I persevered since I remember the story fondly myself. Apart from a few cliches, it seems to have aged well. Anyway here it is Harry Potter and the Birth of a Legend

Haha thanks. I took about an hour of brute searching and clicking on titles that seemed remotely familiar, but when I saw it, I knew it was the one. There's a sequel as well.

 

It's a pre-DH story AlbusPHolmes. I read that a long time ago and the story was (y).

The best thing about the story is the way Snape was handled. Albus Severus Potter indeed. :facepalm:

 

Apart from every cliche, actually. I quit reading after the shopping spree, obligatory trip to Knockturn Alley, and the OC who, of course, was friends with the Marauders and helps Harry escape from the Order's clutches :facepalm
