I think there is an other one with Harry/Tonks pairing that is less about fun more thriller kind.

I've read the Thief of Hogwarts, I'll take a look at Renegade Cause.

 

Anyone remember the name of the fic where Harry is dropped in a AU where he was Voldemorts right hand man.

 

There are a couple like that, but it sounds like Stranger in an Unholy Land is the one you want.

I know I said this already, but did anyone ever write a good Fic where Sirius had a kid?

 

You can try As Black as Night and it's sequel The Brightest Star

The main character is the daughter of Sirius. There aren't many good fics where Sirius or Regulus had a child, and most of them are female main characters that get paired with Harry. Usually they have said OC joining Harry on his adventures and tend to be canon rehashes. This one actually keeps the main character away from the trio.

The fics of this kind I think the two above are the few that would be considered decent.

 

Another is Blot's Larceny, Lechery, and Luna Lovegood.

 

Try As Black as Night. Its quite good if you like political stories, although there aren't too many differences from canon otherwise.

EDIT: Already mentioned in another post. Anyway, I rec it as well.

 

Actually that got me curious. Are there any [I hesitate to say good, maybe almost rec level?] stories where Harry is paired with Sirius' daughter and the story doesn't make you want to hit your own head with a hammer?

 

Quite frankly, I doubt it. As a general rule, I distrust any Fic where the entire Premise is to hook up Character A with Character B.

I'm not saying one doesn't exist. I've certainly read crazier premises done right (I once read a Fic that made me pity Umbridge of all people, albeit an AU version of her), but I wouldn't hold my breath on finding this one.

And as for Black as Night, I quite frankly wasn't a big fan of it. What's the point of giving Sirius Black's a new name, raising her as the daughter of a squib and muggle, and having her tutored by Lupin for two years, if the Author was just going to make her for all practical purposes into the veritable heir of the Black family anyway?

For all I know, maybe it gets better. But for now, I am going to call it quits on the Story to entertain thoughts of my own idea of a 'Sirius has a kid' story.

 

I read As Black as Night last week and I wouldn't recommend it. It's pretty much a canon rehash and Sirius' daughter is boring and dull. If you like inter-family conflicts and lots of drama/angst about prejudices, then maybe it's for you, but if you want any sort of action then look else where, because the OC crumbles whenever anything remotely stressful happens.

The OC's presence affects the people around her and causes changes, but she herself never actually does anything. I don't know how to word it, but it mainly just left me disappointed. A big part of the story is the OC's education, describing how she's been taught to be a manipulator, a control-from-the-shadows type, but whenever you think she's about to do something she just sort of fizzles away. It's just.. meh.

 

This has been bugging me for a while:

It's a one-shot, or if it had chapters they were short. The whole thing couldn't have been longer than 10K words. It was basically a send-up of slash fiction cliches in general, told from the perspective of one of the next-gen kids. Rose, maybe?

The premise of the joke, basically, is that Rose believes every slash cliche, and convinces her peers to go along with it, but the adults are squicked out.

It has a line about Draco getting his son a broom, but all the son wants to do is hover a few feet off the ground and sing something about defying gravity.

It has a scene where Rose conspires to get Harry and Draco together, and then has Kreacher (I think) report on their activities, and they end up having a boring night playing poker or something but Rose takes everything out of context.

That's all I can remember.

 

Here we are.

I rather liked that one. I don't know why, but I found the ending strangely hilarious.

 

Ending almost makes it worth it.

caught Ginny cheating on Harry for real. It was golden. It was unexpected, and Rose's lack of reaction just really hit me.
