Can someone recommend a fic where Harry is about to be thrown into Azkaban and Dumbledore reacts the way he reacted when Fudge tried to arrest him?

Just ran into a stealth azkaban!harry fic that featured Dumbledore that went along with it because "there was nothing he could have done." and now i want a fic with him kicking ass.

 

Christ Almighty...

Let me tell you something about that fic: By the time it received its third rewrite, it was still only on chapter 3; not because it was being rewritten, but because that's all the farther the author had ever managed to get in any of the previous versions.

That third rewrite (unless I missed a rewrite or two) is its current incarnation, and still reads (in many places) like it's a rough draft written by someone for whom English is a fifth language, on a bathroom wall, in shit... braille shit, because they're also blind due to head trauma.

But, hey, at least it's up to chapter 8 (23.6k words, average chapter size 2945 words) now... after being around for over three years.

The basic concept was interesting... which I say because I started writing a 'Harry somehow finds himself in a galaxy far, far, away and ends up becoming a prime clone, thus sending ripples through many events during the Clone Wars timeline' story not long before this appeared on the scene.

After attempting to read the first chapter of this thing's first incarnation, I was so annoyed with it that I put my own story down and didn't add on to it for ages. :|

I was reading The King's Adviser, and it finally reached the part where Harry returns to Hogwarts. The conversation between Harry and Ginny got me thinking: Does anyone know a story where a Weasley dies before Harry and Ginny begin dating? In that particular story, it occured to me that Ginny and Harry bonding over Ron's death made complete sense. While I know that is not something DLP is known for, I would like to read something like that.

It's doubtful that there is anything good out there, but with the droves of Harry/Ginny fics, there has to be one where Ron or Arthur or somebody dies before they start dating.

Anyone?

There was another one where Harry finds out he really is the heir of Slytherin in the chamber and basically ends up turning Ginny into a squib when he exorcises Voldermort from her. That also is abandoned although it is marked as complete.

 

I think they both miss the point. Not that mine is much better:

The only thing I recall reading that even comes close to that scenario is a scene with Ginny taking her grief out on Harry and then collapses in his arms in the Common Room, I think. Though I think that's literally all there was and I've no idea what it's called or where I read it.

Otherwise the concept is completely foreign to me.

 

Not to be a dick, but did you even bother to read what I said? The central element was another Weasley dying and Harry and Ginny having a relationship either based on or as a result of that. I appreciate you telling me about Forging the Sword (one of my favorite all-time stories, of course) but it is not applicable to my search.

 

This story is a cliched guilty pleasure read (and the angst is just way too much), but two or three details did catch my attention.

1. Harry and his future "love" interest having a..less than positive relationship with each other. This is different from, say, Daphne Greengrass stories where they have a frosty interaction between themselves in Potions, only to warm up and fall in love with one another.

2. Having to marry said "love" interest by a certain age - yes, this is the shitty marriage contracts trope coming in to play, but it's still a guilty pleasure read for me.

Does anyone know of any other stories with a secondary character (say, Tonks, Fleur, etc) or a lesser known/used character (Rosmerta, Patils, etc) where they have to marry, but pretty much hate each other - initially?

I know there are a few with Daphne Greengrass in (as mentioned before), but I'm hoping for Tonks or someone like that. *shrugs*

 

Honestly, the writing is frustrating me. The author really needs to work on his storytelling. It almost seems like just a list of facts. Most paragraphs are two to three sentences long and I haven't yet seen a paragraph that took up more than two lines.

 

First story that comes to mind is that one HP/NM fic where Harry imperios/potions Narcissa in order to get the Black fortune, then lifts the curse when they are married. Narcissa promptly curses Harry and starts using him for her own ends.

Can't find the fic on ffn though, so if anyone could provide a link it would be great, as i want to reread that fic myself.

 

I just watched 10 episode of second season of Game of thrones and there is only one thing I can say;

Fuck you DLP. When I asked about Game of Thrones HP xover all of you jumped at bandwagond to talk about how it was hard to write in that setting how Harry would break that world and curbstomp everybody because his magic like there wasn't any in that setting.

An extra fuck you to you Taure. Talking about granted power and inherited power what not. Let's forget about House of Immortals in the east aren't they a guild of wizards? If not what are they?

And there is dragons, White walkers, seers, Metamorphmagus riding their horses as they please in the setting. And you fuckers was telling me Harry wouldn't fit there.

Martin's long been one of the most vocal anti-fanfiction writers out there and the guy has enough disposable income to vigorously protect his intellectual property if desired. Harry Potter fanfiction only exists because Ms. Rowling tolerates it. As someone who has had a story (an Ender's Game parody) removed by ff.net by a CAD order, I can verify that fanfiction in unfriendly fandoms isn't worth the risk irrespective of how well the world might work with another in an xover.

 

A year or two ago I read this pretty bog-standard indy!Harry fic that I haven't been able to track down again since. My recollections regarding it are pretty hazy, but I think it was an abandoned story, too. The only reason I'm hoping to see it again is because Harry's escape from the Order was done hilariously. Basically, Harry's in Australia riding on this magical gondola thing when he makes his escape, tricking the Order into thinking he jumped from his car into the rain-forest below. A bunch of Order members convene down there to try and figure out what happened and find Harry, and they come up with the most ridiculous and long-winded list of things they'll need for the search, all with no guarantee of actually catching Harry. And then Snape sums it up all deadpan, "Merlin, how I hate that brat." It was great. Other than that one scene, though, I don't remember a whole lot about this story, which I assume is due to a lack of anything else memorable about it.

I don't think so. If I recall correctly, that one has Harry escape off-screen, and the Order only find out what happens because Dudley's polyjuiced impersonation of Harry isn't very good. It's possible that the scene I was thinking of only came later, but I can't verify it because that link of yours doesn't seem to be working.

EDIT: Never mind, this is indeed the one I was thinking of. It's odd, I did have other impressions regarding this story, it's just that the later chapters, at least, are so painfully wonky I stopped caring about it, and implicitly disassociated it from the Gondola Scene because they seemed so different in tone and because I thought, after other details had escaped me, that Harry was home-free after doing his trick with the polyjuice, so I assumed that the Gondola bit had to have come from another story. Go figure. Thanks for the find, Tasoli.

 

I'm looking for a Halo fic that I thought was on AO3, but I can't find it there despite there being <100 stories. It's basically Cortana waking up endlessly and processing her entire history before remembering why she's trapped on a space hulk with MC and freaking out. Ends with her saying that she can offer him nothing but remembering his memory, and the stars would die before he would be forgotten because he earned/deserved it.

Good Tom Riddle Jr. stories

I'm looking for well written AU stories that have Tom Riddle Jr. being a good guy instead of, you know, Lord Voldemort.

It doesn't matter why he's good, reasons can be different, be it Grindelwald's victory or something completely else.

Edit: I already read (and liked) Reclamation by Sam_Storyteller, so don't link that one.

 

Rectifier is a good one, I think, as is Warrior's Heir. The latter one is a bit different from what I think you're asking for, as it features a teenage Riddle in modern times. Both also involve both canon and alternate realities.

 

There's also Stranger in the Promised Land, but that takes some doing to read past chapter 4, and I'm pretty sure it's abandoned.
