What do you understand by "headcanon"?

 

Conjecture extrapolated from what we know about canon by a reader that is taken by the reader as most likely being canon. Basically what a person thinks is the case based on everything around it.

For example:

The Ministry is dominated by purebloods.
The Ministry is very corrupt.
Purebloods are treated more favourably by the Ministry.
High ranking positions in the Ministry are dominated by pro-purebloods.
Purebloods make up a small proportion of the population.

Given the purebloods are grossly over-represented in the Ministry some system in place must favour them over others. Given the corruption the system must have few checks and balances. Most political systems start as hereditary bodies.

So, based on that I think a hereditary or hereditary dominated (I.e. a few seats are elected but most are hereditary) system is most likely. I took what we know and fitted the most likely system to it.

 

The conclusion in the last paragraph is based on hot air, not facts. A place being a corrupt shithole don't mean the governmental structure of a political entity is hereditary.

 

So, where are elections mentioned in canon? Over 7 years they must have had some... unless they don't have any.
Granted, heredity seats are also never mentioned in canon, and families like the Malfoys having political seats is directly contradicted by canon. So I think hereditary sears are extraordinarily unlikely. Chief Warlock certainly isn't, the minister is apparently appointed.

There was a HP/DG fic that I remembered today. I think it was sixth or seventh year. Daphne was kinda stupid and was offering her 'services' to Harry for tutoring. yeah... sounds stupid.

Looking for a particular H/Hr songfic that's about You're Beautiful by James Blunt. It was posted in HPFF circa 2006 maybe. This is pretty much the gist:

Harry is sulking in an abandoned classroom about not being with Hermione since she's with Ron.
He's writing a letter to her not sure if he was using a blood quill, his blood as ink, or just plain ink.
In the end, he either loses blood or cuts his wrists (basically, commits suicide).

If I'm not mistaken, there was a sequel (either by the same author or by another) that had Hermione read the letter (not sure if she commits suicide too).

A search in another forum lead to some clues, the author may be real_life_sucks from HPFF. Was able to contact author's friend but apparently, it's no longer in their old computers.

 

That sounds tedious and depressing.

 

Yes it is, but I'm looking for the fic more to satisfy my need to be able to find anything on the internet. Unfortunately, my googling skills were unable find this one (hence, the forum).

 

Since it's Hermione, suicide by papercuts would have been more thematically appropriate.

 

Now that you brought it up, there was a parody fic I read in which Hermione did die from papercuts.

 

Anyone know of a crack fic where Harry becomes a stoner over one summer? Preferably with Hermione vehemently objecting to it before too being sucked into drugs and thus becoming much more relaxed?

I was giggling to myself at the thought and I would like to know if anyone has written that before.

 

All right, I was just reminded of this fic and I couldn't find it at all.

It was a long Harry/Daphne oneshot which I think was named 'Infatuation' but I could be wrong, of course, since for some reason, it just isn't coming up in any of the searches.

The story starts with Harry following Daphne around Hogwarts everywhere, basically stalking her. She eventually agrees on a date with him. They both talk in the library. Daphne reveals some of her personal life and the history of her rapist abusive father. Harry then takes her to the chamber of secrets where they make love, duel and ultimately, Daphne dies.

Harry is shown stalking Tracey in the last part.

Anyone can guide me to this wonderful fic please????

 

It was called Intoxication. It has been removed from FF.Net and, as far as I'm aware, everywhere else too.
