Liked the up date Mrriddler, but then again i always do. I liked how your setting the stage for things to come, as disappointed as i was about there not being any major action and death i still enjoyed it. With that duchess she has to die if not for the fact that she's to arrogant but to establish Harry's dominance among the Veela race.

 

Deep? Honestly imo, i even found it a bit shallow. I like the whole idea of the different races that are applicable for his harem and especially the succubus Hey mrriddler, you wouldn't honestly put it there if you didn't plan on incorporating a succubus, would you? if not, then you're evil and cruel.. It would make the story a bit more interesting, to say the least. Not to mention all the weird things you can put in the story with a succubus present. :wink:

I like the way you describe the veela blood and how even though he's a male veela, he should always watch his back. And i like the whole training description. Coming from you, i expected nothing less. I'd like to see more action in the next chapter though, put to good use all the things he has learned so far. :twisted:

I liked the description of the training, and the Thanatos' warnings.
It'll be great to see if Harry sits up and takes serious notice of these warnings , because it seems the consequences would be dire if he didn't. The letter from Fleur and Regine was good, although damn - Regine is ...*checks which section this topic is in* forward.

I'm looking forward to the introduction of the succubus and I'm hoping for reaction from Fleur ; lots of worrying that the succubus will take her place and whatnot. Hell, if she worries about her own eight-year old sister taking her place, then she's gonna be shaking when she finds out about the succubus.

I liked it. I'm only confused as to why A pure-blood Veela poses a threat, and can somehow negate a male's blood. It seems like If a male can fight off phoenix tears, this stuff shouldn't be an issue either. Same Principle afterall. And what healing stuff? Harry gets injured surely. If stuff like that won't help, what does?

Ahm, we'll see. Yeah, Regine's the forward/take no nonesense/action oriented one. In fact, she exemplifies 'alpha' tendencies better than Fleur. True, Fleur's not feeling too secure right now and that's the point since she really wasn't 'meant' to be in her present position. Hopefully, I can make all this into some cohesive intra-harem plot sometime.

What I intended to mean was that the male veela's body breaks down most other foreign particles that enters it. For whatever reason, it doesn't do this to a female veela's blood, meaning say...if someone mixed female veela blood with poison? that poison might be able to affect the alpha veela.

I meant his body fights off all healing potions and poisons. That's great if Harry gets poisoned, but what if he breaks his arm? He can no longer take skele-grow (as he did in book 2). What if he's on the verge of passing out, but HAS to finish something (Waiting for someone, or some other menial task.) He can't take a pepper-up could he?

That makes sense, I'm just trying to work out why Fleur is so insecure right now. Ok; she's currently in the wrong position - kind of alpha female. So she's either going to have to leave the spot for someone else or adapt to it (it'll be interesting to see what she does)

But reading back through the chapters, there isn't a reason on top of that for her insecurity. Or maybe I just haven't read it through enough. Technically, Regine should be the insecure one if we go back to the conversation Fleur and Harry had during "Parting Gifts for Harry". Regine is the one being compared, and Fleur said herself that Regine takes that a s a blow to her "psyche".

Ok, I shouldn't generalized blood and bodily excretions to ALL foreign sunstances. My intention had been to show that blood to blood contact b etween male veela and female veela could be dangerous if the female veela is untrustworthy.

In the story, I didn't say he can't drink potions, just that the potions presumably couldn't be applied directly to the blood stream... Sorry, I didn't think this through too much.

I need to eat my words too here, I think. I was hasty when I generalized Fleur to be 'insecure'. The truth is, all the girls will be insecure at some point.

Fleur's also right now, only been insecure concerning Gabrielle.
Basically, Fleur saw something in her sister that strikes awe, pride and some kind of fear in her own heart. It's related to how Gabrielle manage to shoot fireballs without transforming. (In my story, no 'normal' not even purebred veela can do this). I won't say anything else on that.

As for Regine, I'll say that she can be both aggressive/exhibit pseudo-alpha tendencies AND be insecure (as you pointed out). You can think of her as being afflicted with a fairly permanent case of inferiority complex. So she tries to make up for her sense of lessness by being more assertive.

Am I kind of making sense? I'm still working on how to characterize her so tell me if something doesn't click quite right.
