What exactly is Steamgifts? Kind of unsure about putting in my password for steam on some unaffiliated site...

 

It's a randomized giveaway site, where people earn 5%(I think it's 5% now?) of the giveaway value of all games that everyone puts up as giveaways, to put entries into giveaways on the site. You can only store up to 300 points at a time, but it builds up pretty quickly. Around 200-400 per day on most days, and sometimes it fills up multiple times a day during big sales.

Giveaways can be assigned a Contributor Value, that requires entrants to have contributed a certain value worth of games, but most giveaways are open, although a decent share have a token(as in .01 to 1.00 dollar) Contributor Value.

There are also Group Giveaways, which can only be entered by people in the same Steam Group as the person making the giveaway.

Giveaways provide the person giving the game with the contact for the randomized winner, and it goes from there. The winner can be requested to be replaced, but it's generally only done if they don't respond within around 24 hours or so.

 

Ahh ok, yeah, now that I pay more attention, it says "through Steam", not "into Steam". Sounds like a cool site though.

 

With the method of signing in that sites like Steamgifts use, you're never actually giving anyone else your Steam username and password, you're just signing in to Steam, then Steam verifies who you are to the other site.



If you're typing in your Steam username and password anywhere other than Steam's own site, something is terribly amiss...

Steamgifts is 100% on the up and up, though.
