Today I'm beginning a test of DLP on a new kind of webserver. The change hasn't happened yet, but it's almost 300% faster than Apache, and as I care little for bandwidth limits for DLP (don't need any limit). I hope all of you will be patient with me, and help participate in this test. If all works as I hope, DLP should be faster, and less resources should be used on my server. If everything does go as I plan, the most you should notice is (maybe) a speed difference.

In slightly pointless news, my university e-mail is compatible with the new server, which means I can get deluged with topic response messages. :)

So, we get a speedy site? Yippe! The darkness can spred faster then.

It might break, but if it does the DNS should resolve back within an hour or two.

Should be changed over for most of you by now, I know there are quite a few clients at the new server. Appears to be working well.

I have to say that it does indeed seem to be a bit faster, since it usually takes a few seconds for a page to load due to all the avatars and stuff.

It's still the same server, I'm just running a different kind of webserver dedicated just to DLP and PC. So now I have two webserver applications running, Apache still runs all the other sites I host, and LSWS (Litespeed Webserver) runs DLP and PC.

LSWS is actually what FanFiction.net and other popular sites run to push out as much dynamic content as they do. Apache is a bit more heavy on resources though, so as DLP is growing at a near exponential rate I decided to switch over and save resources and provide the content faster. I'd run all my sites and my client's sites on LSWS, but I'd have to do a lot of modding of WHM and CPanel, and I don't feel like doing that.
