Didn't Sherlock have a man shaped dummy in his apartment, couldn't he have thrown that off the roof instead. It could then have been swapped for a different body on the ground (by Molly?) or just left there, if he had somehow bribed the ambulance crew. Then when John is knocked down by the cyclist he is either drugged, or just plain concussed, causing him to think he is seeing Sherlock's body. He knew ahead of arriving at the building that he would have to jump so he would have had time to arrange this.

Also do we know for sure that Moriarty is really dead?

Alright done with spoiler tags, if you're reading this just go watch the series.

I think we can safely assume Moriarty is dead. In The Final Solution Moriarty does actually die when he tumbles over the falls with Sherlock. The entire episode would be a waste really if Sherlock and Moriarty both turn out to be alive.

Watched the whole series earlier today, amazing stuff, the name of the episode told me Holmes would die, and the fact that it's Holmes told me it would be faked.

Sidenote: who put the tag "slash goggles engage"?

Seems that not only fairy tales are tredny these days. CBS ordered a pilot of series with modern Sherlock living in New York.

Personally I think it's stupid, considering that they could modernize other classic detective that already lives in NY - Nero Wolfe.

An American Sherlock Holmes. I'm struggling to think of anything worse.

Yes, just what we need, another trendy, quirky police consultant series. And yes, I fully realise the irony. The difference is that this one is good.

As for this episode; I cried. Srsly.

Moriarty was fantastic (I felt bad for him for a moment). Sherlock was fantastic. It was just all round awesome.

American James Bond. I don't know if it is worse but it is just as bad.

It seems that the newest trend in American Tv is to rip off hit shows from the BBC look at Strike Back and "Shameless.

And no, I can't think of anything worse than an American Sherlock Holmes some things just need to stay British.

That...would be awful. Although somewhat akin to this rumour (maybe. Certainly haven't heard anything since). Jennifer Garner as Miss Marple? Hmmm.

An American playing The Doctor. They came close with the TV movie (which was awful) and season 4 of Torchwood (which was actually pretty good), but if they ever tried to bring over Doctor Who itself... that would be worse.

On the subject of shitty US remakes of UK shows, I put forward Being Human.

Can we stfu about this and get back on topic?

And on that note, does anyone have any idea when the third series will be out? Is it likely to be another 2 years, or will we possibly get lucky and get it next year?

Third season is confirmed, but it's pretty unclear when it will be filmed.

Both Freeman and Cumberbatch seem to be in pretty high demand at the moment. They're appearing in everything from Jackson's The Hobbit to the reboot of Star Trek.

Edit for clarity: Cumberbatch is in Star Trek 2, not Freeman.

Haven't they tried that with shows like Burn Notice? I know it's not an exactly the same copy, but the principle was the same, and the first ad for it on the internet way back when, mentioned Bond, if my memory recalls right.

Anyways, watched this season last night, very good stuff.

If the third season was commissioned at the same time as season 2, I suppose it's not entirely impossible that they filmed two series at once. It would explain the delay between seasons. I don't think that is the case, but I can dream.

An interesting interview with Moffat. I wonder what the clue he's referring to is?

Yet one of their prime example theories is "Moriarty wearing a Sherlock mask", so I'm guessing some did.

The best thing about this article, was the reference to the possibility of the third series coming out later this year. :D

So...CBS apparently approached the BBC about remaking Sherlock for American audience, only to be turned down. Now they're making their own version. The BBC aren't terribly impressed.
