That sounds somewhat similar to Miranda Flairgold's story. With Harry off on his own, and then a majority of the story having very little to do with the HP world and canon. Hers is easily, one of the few really good post-HBP stories, but anytime you have that many OCs and barely any reference to say, Hogwarts, Britian, other canon folks etc... it loses a lot of my interest (not to mention she has a habit of including everything, species, race, and generic fantasy-sci fi characters as she can).

I'd like to see a good Harry apprenticed to Ollivander sort of story. I know Fission25 sort of started one, but that one feels more like Ollivander is offering a place for him to study and flirt like a tard with Katie Bell and... well... that's about it. Although Barty Crouch would be interesting. I just have never liked those complete AU where they try and redo all seven years, and I think they usually give up before we even get to second year. Or else they're still going and it'll take you a couple hundred thousand words to even get the plot going somewhere say different from canon. When, if it's up to me, I'd really rather just read the final battle than muddle through another interpretation of eleven-year olds acting like intelligent teenagers.

Ruskbyte's Evil Be Thou My Good nailed the right way on those. Whip through that useless tripe we've all read before, even if you are changing it so Harry and Hermy explore their sexuality at 11. Bleh.

Err... when did I stop trying to helpfully suggest and start ranting about all the damn things that piss me off? Actually... nevermind.

EDIT: Err... right. What IP82 said. Miranda Flairgold's A Second Chance at Life

I also hate complete AU's, unless you change the setting completely (different plots - no stone, basilisk etc).

What I suggested here was for Harry to return to Hogwarts only in 4th year, for Triwizard tournament. The rest of his life to be on fast forward - travells, training, different contries, foreign spells etc.

The tourny should be really different though. Different tasks should be in play as well as new champions if you want to. I dont mind the champions they already have but if you want to change em then thats cool.

The first task 'could' stay the same but the second task would definitely have to go. Harry's person would either be Crouch Snr or Jnr and one is a judge and the other is supposed to be dead. I say change all three tasks anyway.

I like this idea. hasnt been done before and i'm sure Shezza could pull this off.

i like the idea of the tourny taking palce with the very advanced Harry, and making the tournement slightly better by changing the tasks. For me one of the biggest let downs of the GoF books, was the tasks themsselves, they were well written, but they just seemed to nbe something she came up with in a ratehr great hurry, and didn't pay careful attention to making the the special moments they could have been (thinks of battling monsters and one of Cedric's spells accidentally hitting Ginny, turnign her into the bitch she is lol)

So far, I actually liked Shezza's orginal idea:

I would be over this kind of story like a rash. Cliche backdrop but very original conditions. Otherwise, you should probably choose something. Doesn't seem like you actually need help with forming the ideas, just hold it together once it's formed.

I don't think that Shezza's idea about Harry not being BWL and still having a nice, happy childhood would work. I mean, what's the point of doing the swich if there isn't any sort of conflict or drama coming out of it?

You don't have to make James & Lily hate Harry, but some weird situation has to come up from such mistake... Like several fics where Harry loves his pompous little brother and he's playing a bodyguard for him. There is even one where Lily had brainwashed Harry to act like an invisible bodyguard ("Comes out of darkness mourn" is the third part I think).

Anyway, you can play with that clishe in some other way.

For example, Harry IS considered the BWL even though his parents and Dumbledore thinks he isn't. They train him to act as BWL and play a clay pigeon for Voldemort, while they prepare his brother in his shadow... But then, his brother finds out that Harry IS BWL and, in a jelous fit, set up for the word to get out about the ploy. Harry is ridiculed... etc, to me something like this sounds much more interesting than everyone being just lovely-dovely.

I got one more...before I'll choose out of the four plots.

In twenty years from HBP, Voldemort has taken control of the English Ministry of Magic and become the legitimate ruler of Britain. Hogwarts has been turned into a school for the Dark Arts and the Order of Phoenix is broken.

It is now illegal to be a Muggleborn, marry a muggleborn or even associate with a muggleborn. They are picked out from birth, and as part of the agreement with the other magical nations, deported. Voldemort has finally achieved his wish- a pureblood magical society.

However, the Order is merely broken, not dead. Some survive to fight these changes, the most notably being Harry Potter. Over the last twenty years, he has organised and led a small resistance against Death Eaters....or Auror's as they are known now. Few wizards have ever survived a duel with him, and pureblood children and adults are so afraid that they call him You-Know-Who...

A story that takes the perspective of evil from a different point of view, a point of the winner....

Great idea! Especially if you do it like the HP books.

What I mean is, do it from POV of a first year whose parents were killed by Harry and he was spared for some reason. Harry is posing for Dark Arts teacher and keeping an eye on the kid. There is also some artefact that Voldemort is hiding inside the Hogwarts (the last Horacrux?), after someone almost stole it from the let's say DOM or Voldie's mansion. Then you do them bonding etc etc...
In the final scenes, the kid uncovers Harry and Harry reveals that he is in fact his father.... (star wars, I know). The kid was kidnapped after they killed Harry's wife and tried to rise him as a proper pureblood, seeing his power and all.... Hell, you can even make his foster parents hating his guts coz he's Harry's kid just appointed to them etc... just some random rambling at this point :)

I know it's not your genre, but I think this would make interesting shorter story, in rang with PS (40,000 words).

However, I don't think it would be that interesting if you wrote it from Harry's POV. I mean, if he couldn't beat Voldie before, how can he now, when he's imperator... Of course, Harry being all powerful from begining don't help either...

    Wow idea, simply wow.

I think there's plenty that could be done with a "loving" family for Harry. You could have his sibling being Child Who Lived, and the prophecy what not, but end up that child is hurt, and the entire plot could be how Harry has to break the prophecy in order to kill Voldemort or something...
Points of interest: No fame, not targetted by Dumbledore or Voldemort...etc.

What's with the devotion to following that prophecy or anyone. You can have Harry kill voldemort even if he's not BWL, that ALONE is originial I think. Personally, I for one am going to shatter the prophecy in my AU story ...and shove it up Dumbledore's ass!!...ahm *cough* anyway... :p

I like the idea. Who do you have set as the protagonist against Harry? Interesting Star Wars adaptation Ip, but that kind of vindicates Harry...which is good and bad. Depends on if you want Harry to be the bad bad guy or good bad guy.

Anyway, I like the Crouch idea personally mixed with the Tri-Wizard. I like the 4th year being re-done and with Crouch Snr and Jnr looking after Harry since he was 1... well, this will be very interesting.

I say you need something with the unspeakables, the room with the brains perhaps? transferance of knowledge and consequences of another voice inside his head, the brains of a scholar or of Grindelwald? no one knows what happened to his body? start where ever you could. Meh i think that Azkaban idea was good but the crouch one was better, maybe combine them or some shit?

All this talk isn't doing anybody good, so I've decide that I will use challenge given to me by ip82.

Harry kills Ginny in a fit of rage when he finds out about love potion (or something different- HE IS GUILTY)
He's sent to Azkaban, shunned by Weasleys and Hermione for good reasons
In Azkaban you do standard thing about Harry, having nothing better to do, drills inside Voldie's head and copy his knowledge.
The prison is constantly being filled by captured DE's but Voldemort's getting stronger and stronger.
He attacks Azkaban, in an attempt to free his men and kill Potter and stop him from ruffling through his brain. In a desperate attempt, unspeakables errect inpenetrable bubble around the prison that will last 5, 10... years.
Inside the prison Harry breaks free and takes over Azkaban. Using Voldemort's knowledge, he manipulates dark mark of other prisoners, cuts them from Voldemort and make them his slaves.

When 5, 10 years later the bubble bursts, there's the world (I was thinking more like England, maybe France as well) where Voldewmort is the emperor. Harry and his "men" step into the war...

Yes, one man definitely couldn't take over the whole world, so GB is more reasonable, especially seeing how it's issolated on island so it's easier to seperate it from "light" goverments.

You could then have some foreign security agencies inserting spies into England, trying to bring Voldemort down (CIA does it all the time, so why not magical branch of it)... Harry could find some allies there...

Also, you shouldn't make the world under Voldemort all bad. That's big clishe. I'm thinking more like Nazy Germany in the 30's - Not much freedom but everything running smoothly and efficiently...

Anyway, I'm glad you've chosen my bunny. If you need more help, just ask. Oh, and I would refrein from discussing the plot any further in public - you wouldn't want to ruin the story for many people by posting spoilers.

i look forward to reading this.

I agree that GB is reasonable, and that it should run kinda like germany did, I mean if Hitler hadn't gone insane Germany would quickly have become one of the leadign countries in the world.

Also, pleas try not to portray Voldie as a mad man. In the books he only uses Crucio as a rare punishment, maybe have hhim use milder pain curses to speed things along, or have folk like the death eaters as overseers of working areas, but don't have them chuck the cruciatus around like its a toy. In my opinion, all the unforgivables take extreme emotion, and ratehr high level power to cast which s why Dark Lords all go under so many rituals, so they can keep casting them.

Perhaps somebody else could pick up the Crouch idea. I would read it anyway.

Personally I was more drawn towards the idea that he eventually decided on. Don't know why, I just was.

    Hey everybody,
I'm Shezza88, a writer on FF.Net. My stories include The Future Remapped, Harry Potter Ancardia, Harry Potter and the Stargate, Harry Potter and the Revelations and several more. In case it hasn't became apparent to people, I have a tendency to leave stories incomplete..........
Mainly because I write from the top of my head and I can get started well, but always and I mean, always, lose focus and concentration.

    So here's what I'm asking.
I'm looking for a few people, preferably authors, to help me plan out a totally new and interesting (ORIGINALITY IS ESSENTIAL) story. I want a plan that I can come and look to...basically, I want help making a plot and filling in the details. Then I can do what I do best, write...

I am going to make a Forum on FF.Net, where readers can suggest ideas and basically, help me continue and finish the damn plot. For now, here’s the first chapter of my new story…

Harry sighed as he raked his hand through his messy charcoal hair. His emerald eyes were dull but firm and he had long since grown from the little first year. He fidgeted uncomfortably as he fiddled with his robes and stared at himself in the mirror. From the open window came light chattering and happy laughter. Albus Dumbledore was dead, Death Eaters were growing more and more confident and Harry himself had been granted a special task in destroying Voldemort’s soul, but the atmosphere at the Burrow was light and happy.
Harry took another sip of pumpkin juice from his goblet and set it aside as he once again tried to fix his robes.
“Come on Harry! It’s starting” Ron yelled from outside the door.
Harry sighed and picked up his gleaming holly wand from the stand and made one last attempt to smooth his hair, before he strode from the room.

“…and in the name of Merlin, the Father of Magic, we witness and acknowledge the binding union made today between William Weasley and Fleur Delacour and pronounce them Husband and Wife. Mr Weasley, you may kiss your bride.” The old and frail looking wizard smiled as Bill grabbed Fleur and put his mouth over hers.
“Now let us rejoice and celebrate the union of love that has just been formed.” The old wizard finished. All around Harry, people jumped to their feet and started clapping and cheering as Bill and Fleur broke away, both smiling brilliantly.
“Isn’t that beautiful?” Came a sweet and sultry voice on his left and Harry felt his pulse race as he turned and gazed into the beautiful and sparkling brown eyes of Ginny Weasley. He swallowed and croaked out. “Y-Yeah.”
Ginny smiled at him mysteriously as she took his arm and led him to the table, where food was piled up. Harry trailed along aimlessly; his gaze fixated on the beautiful and perfect vision in front of him. As he sat down, Ginny placed a small kiss on his cheek and stared into his eyes.
“I know you said that we had to break up, but do we really have to?” She asked in a soft and pleading tone, her eyes boring into hers.
Harry started to shake his head, before he caught himself. His determination wavered but stayed strong as he removed Ginny’s hands from his arm.
“Ginny, it’s too dangerous. If you died, I wouldn’t know what to do.” Harry said and Ginny looked both disgruntled and pleased at the same time.
“Harry James Potter! If you think you can order me around like that then you’re in for a surprise, mister!” Ginny snapped, her famous Weasley temper coming around. She jabbed him firmly in the chest, before smiling. “But you’re right. I will wait for you Harry.”
Harry watched the love of his life walk from the table as the other guests starting milling around. Sighing, he picked up a piece of chicken and nibbled at it. Strangely, he had lost his appetite and the though of Ginny angry with him. It was his fault, if only he had been more understanding…

After lunch, there was music and dancing. Bill and Fleur whirled across the room, laughing softly as they murmured to each other. Certainly, Fleur shiny silver hair that flowed behind her gained more attention than anything else. From across the room, Harry could see Ginny talking to Dean and felt a wave of jealousy and envy grip him. His fists tightened and he wanted to do nothing more than to walk over and jinx Dean into a thousand pieces. As his hand gripped his wand, a soft tap on his shoulder stopped him from doing anything stupid. He turned around to see the small girl, maybe eleven years old, with silver hair, light blue eyes and small smile.
“Hello Harry,” The girl said softly, ducking her head under his inquisitive stare. Harry frowned for a moment before it came to him.
“Gabrielle?” Harry asked in surprise. The girl bobbed her head up and down and blushed as she stared at the ground.
    “I was wondering…if you…wanted to…dance.” She muttered slowly.
Harry suddenly felt his jealousy vanish and smiled kindly at the young girl. “Well, I’m not very good at dancing but okay.”

Ginny, still talking to Dean, watched with a frown as Harry started dancing awkwardly with Gabrielle. Her anger grew and a bitter, gnawing feeling developed in her gut as she pushed Dean aside and stormed forward.
“Harry.” She smiled sweetly as she pushed the brat out of the way.
“Ginny?” Harry asked in confusion, before a dreamy look appeared on his face and he walked away with her.

Gabrielle watched with hurt plainly written on her face as she watched her idol walk away, not even giving her a second glance. She sighed unhappily and walked to the table, still watching her hero as he was led to an isolated section of the grounds. Suddenly she stiffened and frowned as she observed Ginny take out a small bottle from her robes. As a quarter Veela, Gabrielle could sense the aura coming from around the bottle that was similar to the nature of Veela’s and without a second thought, bolted over.

“What are you doing?” She snapped towards Ginny.
The redhead gave her a withering glare as she passed Harry a goblet of pumpkin juice, the goblet she had just spiked. “Go away little girl!” She said with an audible growl. “He’s mine!”
Gabrielle spluttered incoherently at that but set aside her blush as Harry gulped down the pumpkin juice and the Love potion with it.
Ginny smiled happily at the sight and cooed at Harry, who set aside his goblet and gave her a loving smile. Gabrielle felt the anger surge in her and whirled around, seeking out the nearest adult, when Ginny gripped her shoulder and dragged her back into the shadows.
“Listen you little brat! You won’t tell anybody about this, nobody! You understand?”
Gabrielle whimpered as Ginny’s nails pierced her skin and struggled against her grip. Ginny just tightened it and gave her a cold smile, while Harry stood next to her with blank eyes.

As Gabrielle struggled, her rage grew and with it, so did her powers. She felt a fiery sensation burn through her and the seductive aura of a Veela surrounded her. It was like lighting a bonfire in the dark and everybody at the party sensed it. She gathered her powers and for a moment, the world was full of red, pink and white hues. Ginny held a large number of these sparkling colours, several which were tied off to Harry, who was strangely dull compared to most normal people. The brightest hues on him were connected to his heart and Ginny, and Gabrielle instinctively slashed through them, bringing about two short screams of pain.

Love potions work by creating a magical link between two people. This link generated fake love and devotion and over time, scrubbed the body clear of any other love that the person may ever feel to anybody else. Gabrielle had severed this link, cutting off a large amount of positive feelings that balanced the body. Without these positive feelings, Harry was filled with hate, anger, desperation, anxiety, worry and so forth. Some part of him knew who was responsible for doing this to him…

"There you go," said Fred proudly. "Best range of love potions you'll find anywhere."
Ginny raised an eyebrow sceptically. "Do they work?" she asked…

Somehow it reminded him simultaneously of treacle tart, the woody smell of a broomstick handle, and something flowery he thought he might have smelled at the Burrow………Ginny hands him a goblet of pumpkin juice, a mysterious smile on her face…Harry catches a whiff…

"Hang on," said a voice close by Harry's left ear and he caught a sudden waft of that flowery smell he had picked up in Slughorn's dungeon. He looked around and saw that Ginny had joined them…

It was as though something large and scaly erupted into life in Harry's stomach, clawing at his insides: Hot blood seemed to flood his brain, so that all thought was extinguished, replaced by a savage urge to jinx Dean into a jelly. Wrestling with this sudden madness, he heard Ron's voice as though from a great distance away…an unknown magical link surged through him, sprouting feelings of jealousy and love

Ginny and Harry screamed in pain, drawing attention as Ginny staggered back. Harry, filled with the dark emotions and stripped of his positive emotions, raised his wand with a surge of rage on his face.
“Avada Kedavra!” He roared in anger. A jet of green light shot from his wand, lighting up the shadows with a eerie green glow and striking Ginny in the chest. For a moment, Ginny looked incredulous before she was propelled backwards by the sheer force of the blast and fell to the ground, sprawled out with a look of horror on her face.

For a moment nobody moved. Harry still had his wand outstretched, with Gabrielle radiating the Veela charm. Ron had a half chewed piece of food in his mouth and his mouth was working silently, Hermione was frozen in shock, Fred and George’s smiles were gone, Charlie looked murderous, Mr and Mrs Weasley looked shocked and Bill looked blank.
“STUPEFY!” Roared fourteen different voices. Harry slashed his wand, deflecting three of four beams with his wand, but was struck and fell to the ground along with Gabrielle.

There was no trial, no court case, no begging for mercy. It was quickly summarised that Gabrielle had used the Veela charm to induce Harry into killing Ginny over a spat of jealousy. With the current situation and the state of war that England was in, nobody raised an outcry when both Harry and Gabrielle were thrown in Azkaban, sentenced for life. Gabrielle had as good as killed somebody, and Harry had used an Unforgivable curse.

Definitely has promise, and any Harry/Gabrielle story is a plus. Naturally I'll support any work that kills Ginny. :)
