Shutdown Task Failure

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have a task set up to shut the computer after logging a successful backup. The command runs at the end of the backup (a command prompt window opens), and then . . . nothing. But, if I go into the Task Scheduler and run the task from there, it shuts down the computer without a problem.

I've searched online, but most of the places I've found only go back through the same instructions. So at this point, I'm almost ready to go searching for third party apps, but would prefer not to do so.

Here's the specs and what I've tried/set up:

Windows 7 Home Premium, SP 1
    Asus Rampage III Formula
I7 940 chip (first generation, damn thing won't die to justify buying a new one).
    14 Gig Ram

    Task set up:
    Name: Backup Shutdown
User account: tried my account, System, and Administrators. Set to run whether user is logged on or not, and ran with highest privileges.
Begin the task: On an Event; Log Microseft-Windows Backup Operational. Source: Backup.
    Event ID :4098
Set to repeat every 5 minutes for an hour. I have set this to not repeat at all, and various choices in between.
Oh, and the box is checked: Enabled.
    Actions: Start a Program
    Program/Script: Shutdown.exe
    Arguments added: /s /t 000 /f
Conditions: Ive set this for no conditions; wake the computer to run this task, etc., and it makes no difference. Currently, the only condition set is "Wake Computer to Run Task."
Settings: First three boxes checked; Allow task to be run on command, run task as soon as possible after start is missed, if task fails, restart every (1) minute. I've messed with all of these as well with no difference. Also, currently set to "Do not start a new instance" for already running task.

Anyone see what I'm doing wrong? If I set this to run off another task, say, opening the backup center, rather than logging it as completed, the task works and the computer shuts down. I'm completely befuddled.

That's because it looks like you didn't specify what program for it to look for.

You set it up to shut down after a backup, but which backup program?

Set it up actually to look for an Event ID 4098 being logged. (4098 being MS's backup event ID).

Is that process terminated when the backup finishes?

I wondered about that so I set it to delay but it didn't help. I've thought about creating a secondary task, and then have the shutdown command prompted off that task, but that violates KISS something fierce and just adds more potential problems in the mix, so I've held off so far.
