Are there any decent Sirius centric fics out there. Something along the lines of All these Complications, just with Sirius and not Lily and James. The problem with finding this genre for me seems to be the overabundance of self inserts and the typical slash.

This is actually quite interesting. Pre-azkaban, Sirius had a lot of potential for an interesting character.

Post Azkaban is a different story though. He's just a mess.

There are a few stories that have Sirius as a prominent character, like A Black Comedy, A Necessary Gift, and Fugitives of Azkaban, but none that I know of that have him as the central character.

Happiness is Azkaban might count, I guess, and though it's an angsty one-shot it's also written by Myst Shadow.

Most of those stories have James and co.

Though this one is interesting, Book One: A Decision Made
P.S~ Though it was updated on 8th, it's only two chapter right now. Writing is good too.

I personally enjoyed The Wise One Trilogy. I'll have to look for some decent Marauder-era fics, those are harder to find.

The first book of the Wise One trilogy was really good, the second was ok (though seemed like a lot of canon-rehash), and the third just dived off a cliff.

Thanks for the responses guys. I finished A Decision Made and thought it was alright, though the amount of OC's is staggering so far. So far it reminds me of a indy Harry fic. I'm going to start The Wise One Trilogy now.

I cannot recommend the Unbroken Universe Trilogy enough. It is one of my favorite fics, and I think you'll quite enjoy it.

It sounds reminiscent of Tales From Mos Eisley Cantina... is it supposed to be similar?

anyone who can second mk's suggestion? we're talking about a guy who likes the Grey Maiden series.

I just follow A Twist of Fate though it's more a guilty pleasure than a brilliant fic, as I thought it would switch to Harry at school soon, which it didn't.

It's a "Sirius (+ wife + Remus) raises Harry" fic, and Harry doesn't play a prominent role yet. It now has 33 chapters and 72.9 k words, featuring Japanese!wife, persistent!Dumbledore, cleared!Sirius.

Hmmmm. I was browsing the dredge that is ff.net tonight, and I came across another story: His Two Paths. I'm not quite certain if it's something that is DLP material, and I wouldn't place it among my favorite fics ever, but it interested me enough to add it to my favorites, and I thought I'd bring it up as it fits the topic nicely.

There's Back Again Siriusly, a time-travel do it better fic focusing on Sirius. Give it a try.

I'm in the middle of book 2 right now, I can't yet give you thumbs up but I would if I could. Great fic. The only thing that is grating at me is the Julia character, who is a fucking terribly unsubtle Mary-Sue self-insert. The scenes that feature her are nauseating. :facepalm

I tried reading this story myself, but I couldn't really get into it. It was just....bland, to say the least. I've read too many time travel stories to even like time travel stories anymore.

Its either Hogwarts Shore if you take 99% of your fanon maruaders in one hand, or in the other Vigilante exploitation with the rest.

While the latter, I have no problem with, I would caution to expect garbage in any other case. And even when not pre-canon.

I got annoyed at the author's inability to deviate beyond "the wizard" or "this wizard."

It's one of my pet peeves. I really dislike repetitions of some turn of phrase or another to refer to people. They've got a name, and personal pronouns are just fine for referring to them the rest of the time.

I understand the desire to avoid repetition of names and "he/she" but replacing that with repetition of another sort doesn't make one's prose better.
