This part makes me think strongly that the Parasite is Harry's crueler subconcious, somehow gaining some sort of form when Harry died.

The British guy in the crystals is obviously the Merlin.

Not sure about this. Merlin didn't just live in a time before the current British accents, he lived in a time before English full stop. Unless there's a timey-wimey explanation, it has to be someone considerably more recent. Kemmler?

 

Fairly sure Kemmler was German.

 

He has a pretty Germanic name, but that doesn't exclude the possibility of being British. Could have been born to German immigrants.

But even if he is German, he probably would have learnt British English, given the era he was born in.

 

The guy doesn't feel like a murdering psychopath, though, which Kemmler probably was.

And I'm sure Merlin can thought-speak in any damn accent he chooses to. But I'd be wary of Butcher bringing in too many old legends into the story. Norse gods, Greek gods... you'd have to draw a line somewhere.

Also, if Merlin is a candidate, then Arthur should be, too. The once and future king, after all.

 

I suspect it's Merlin because it fits with what happened to him in the legends. And having him locked up in the prison of his own creation is just a bonus for whoever wanted him out of the game.

 

He'd be a decent pick for the Sword of Love as well.

 

I once started writing a one-shot with Arthur sleeping under Demonreach and being the last line of defense if its prisoners somehow escaped, but I couldn't capture a kind of awesomeness a person would need to poses to make living nightmares stop in tracks even before he got his sword back.

It may take on Harry's Form. But Harry's Subconscious has proven to care about most of the people he cares about. To value his family and his friends. The main difference between He and Harry, IIRC, is that Subconscious Harry is much more willing to do Vicious/Dark Things to protect them and innocents/get what Harry wants.

I've never seen any proof that Subconscious Harry = Evil Harry. He's quite a bit more Amoral, but he certainly shares much of what Harry values and/or cares about.
