The item is the "Literal" holy grail. Maybe to heal Nic after Harrys beat down, maybe just because it will make him even more immortal, or maybe for shits and giggles.

 

I thought the Grail was already mentioned. A little digging showed the Grail is referred to in history as the Philosopher's Stone (interesting!), and in some legends is considered part of Lucifer's crown, and part of what is keeping him Sealed. Fic ideas, fic ideas

 

The Grail was one of the popular ideas due to someone claiming Jim said so at a book signing or something but never confirmed.

The Grail has so many stores around it, it could be anything... even a French woman protected by the Priory of Sion...

 

I also think the mention of his own allies killing him to be interesting.

 

I could be wrong but Im almost entirely sure they just mean the Denarians Mab is forcing him to work with.

 

I can only hope that the outcome is like the Ark-opening scene from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Nicodemus is many things, but retarded isn't one of them...

 

I think Nicodemus is going to face a rebellion, judging from his comments about how he cannot assure the safety of however Dresden decides to bring along as a second. I'm still going ahead with the heist and the Holy Grail being a tool to free Lucifer by some of the Denarians (the ones who had help from Lucifer in the attack against Arctis Tor), and Nicodemus going along with it just so he can double-cross them.

 

Hence why he's bringing along a guy that the forces of Good obviously show some Soulfired-favour to. If the nickelheads can't actually touch or handle the Grail - not unlike how they can't touch or handle the Swords unless their power has been broken or dispelled temporarily by a mortal - then bringing along a mortal makes perfect sense.

As to 'allies' - I agree, the blurb is referring to the accompanying Denarians.

As to 'rebellion'... well, we know without a doubt from the confrontation at the Aquarium that Nic was not aware of everything the Denarians involved in the Black Council were doing. Nic has also shown a great propensity to killing two (or three, or fourteen) birds with one stone. He wants the Grail, but he also wants to clean house. This quest is likely going to have some severe casualties, and I bet Nic couldn't be happier.

 

Given the amount of difficulty he showed in handling the Shroud--that is, none whatsoever--I'm going to take a swing in the dark and say that it's probably not a huge issue for him. I especially don't think that he'd choose Dresden to come along to handle it even if that was the case, because he tried that tactic before and it didn't work.

 

Theoretically, if the Holy Grail does indeed possess the miraculous healing powers it is rumored to have, could it not serve as a way to heal Harry's spine? Has there been any WOG as to its properties?

 

But that would be too easy for Harry, he isn't that lucky.

 

I disagree. Harry's luck would mean that the Holy Grail has curing powers, but he would be given a choice between healing himself and saving other person before it's taken away from him.

 

Knowing Dresden's luck, it's gonna turn out he'll have to fight alongside Nicodemus in disregard of Mab's wishes against something.
