My friends know that I read FFs, I converted one friend to reading HP FFs and even turned him away from Slash. My Sister reads also Fanfictions, and my whole class knows that I like to read Harry Potter. Even my english teacher knows. And the friends that know don't care.

Ner0: that's pretty impressive. I think you wtfpwn everyone for the amount of people who know. At least so far :p.

Lawlz, my English teacher hates the HP verse. He would probably whack me upside the head if I ever told him I read and write in it's fandom. :)

I can sympathize with you, my mother stopped us from watching The Mask because she thought it was too corrupting...imagine my disappointment when I orchestrated a sneak view of the movie and found it strangely tame. She also tried to stop me from reading Lord of the Rings, but that's when I put my foot down 'no one gets between me and Tolkien, nobody!"

On topic: My brother and my best friend know. We had a blast making fun of all the TR/HP fics and other craziness like that out there. My mom does not know, and will never know...I just keep feeding her Daniel Steele books and she stays in her happy psycho world.

My dad knows -- and doesn't care because he'd written me off as crazy the day I was born (I was the infant/two year old from hell apparently).

A few of my friends are H/G and H/D shippers; they don't know I read fanfiction, but they do know that I don't support either pairing and that there is no way in hell for them to convince me otherwise.

My other friends probably wouldn't care, but it's never come up in conversation.

Took me 2 seconds to figure out that you weren't entirely mentally stable.

On topic: No one. And I mean, no one, will ever...ever find out that I read HP. My parents think that I download (ha..ha) books and read them.

As far as my friends go, if they find out they die. =)

Cady: ^_^ Awesomeness. I agree, if they find out they must die! Kinda reminds me of the 'if I told you I'd have to kill you' thing. :)

As to Gio's post: it seems everyone knows someone who loves a slashy pairing! Wtf, I ask?!

Lima Bean: You shall have to die.

All of the english teachers I've ever had despise HP. Mostly because they dont like the whole magic idea, but a good portion of them hate JK with a passion. Which I find quite amusing...

SC: please don't call me L-l-l-l *twitches* Lima-Bean, in public. :p Besides, what have I done?

I've never actually asked why it is Stoney boy (English teacher) hates Harry Potter so much. It's actually never occurred to me that I should ask ... hmm ... :)

Most of the people i know, know I read HP fanfiction. My family, thats Mam, Dad, 2 brothers and cousins know I read it and my brother's friends do to. Also my friends from college know as well, cause they read it as well. My old friend is also a slash writer but she doesn't read HP so much anymore (more of a Gundam Wing slash fan and a huge mpreg fan :puke:)

At this point its only my older brother that teases me for it but thats just getting old now so it doesn't matter so much.

I've been in the fandom for nearly 6 years now, so I definitely have told a few more people than most have. For starters, my mother and my father know that I read and write HPFF; my mom begs me nightly to quit writing it and write my own stuff (probably so I can support her in old age :p), and my dad is a workaholic anyways, so I never see him regardless.

Besides that, my grandma knows, because she was one of the people that assessed my work to give me an honest opinion of whether I should pursue writing as a career. She worked in a library for 40-odd years, so it was nice to have a validating opinion.

My English advisor in University knows as well - she's taught me two classes, and I've not covered it up in any, so a lot of people in those classes know as well. On top of that, they offer a children's literature course here, so a billion people know through that.

My girlfriend is also my beta and sounding board, so I'd say she knows.

My family knows that I frequent "a site with a white background and lots of text" (ff.net), "some place with a dark green background" (DLP forums) and "a black screen" (IRC, rofl) a lot, but since they don't have a firm grasp of the English language (with the exception of my father, who probably figured out everything by now, but hardly says anything about it -_-), they don't know what I'm doing...yet.

And my friends won't know what fanfiction is, nor be interested in it, especially the HP fandom since

Harry Potter translated into Chinese traditional -> utter fail.

My sister knows that I read on occasion, but there's not a soul that I know who has a clue that I write. It's something private to me, a personal hobby that I don't care to share with others.

My Mum knows, and she wants to read my fic but I'm so far refusing because it's got swear words in it (ummm). hehe.

My elder brother also knows, and he's taken it upon himself to bring up 'Lauren reads fanfiction' in random conversations with my friends, but I just laugh and shrug it off. If he knew I actually spent time writing it...I don't even want to think about it.

My boyfriend so far hasn't found out but but my brother is almost certain to tell him I read it at some point, so i'll just have to find out something I can wreck him about right back :)

During my first school years I started to write some stories based on dreams - some sf and fantasy with few hundred words. When I was ten years old I accidentally discovered that my mom was presenting my stories to her best friend (my godmother). It was such an embarrassing moment that I stopped writing down my stuff for a long time. Since then nobody I know shall ever learn I write something.

At university a lot of people read the HP-books so we even discuss the books and movies, but I won't tell them about fanfiction. The people I know outside university are thinking it's strange to read at all, so they don't know.

Everyone who has discovered I'm reading and writing some English stuff believes it's just to get some practice with the language.

That's funny, if I write then just for my friends, and that for 2 reasons: I'm not good and I don't get far into stories, I loose too fast my interest.

My mom knows, she used to wonder why I was always on the computer if I wasn't out with my girlfriend or friends.

My close friend knows, he feels its his duty to bring it up when ever a book conversation comes up.

I just laugh at him because he 'dropped' out. (Started home schooling, he has never picked up a book since he left High School.)

Hm...let's see. My dad knows, kinda, and thinks its kinda odd that I waste my time like this. But he thinks I just waste time over the summers when I've got nothing to do, so he doesn't say anything about it...he doesn't know that I'm on DLP and FFNet all through the year *laughs maniacally!*

My girlfriend knows, too, even so far that I write, though she's under the impression that I just mess around and never actually post anything that I write. And in any case, she thinks its 'cute'...and I don't know whether to be offended or happy that she thinks I'm wasting my time in a 'cute' fashion. :(

But apart from that? No one. As Sera said, its a hobby that I keep to myself, its not something I share with people. Its not something I'm ashamed about, but its something that I'd rather not share, if only to prevent the hailstorm of jokes that would follow :p

My girlfriend only knows 'cause she uses my computer frequently, and has seen 'www.fanfiction.net' when she starts typing 'www.facebook.com' in the address bar. And my dad knows for the same reason, and because he's actually seen me reading before, and saw me laugh, then came over to check it out. Some humor fic, I think it was BMM's, was making me laugh.
