I enjoyed this story. The idea of this cross over is an interesting one and the only problem I have with this story is he isn't continuing it, YET. He may start it up again.
Unfortunately no one else on the internet seems to have picked up on this cross over. Probably because of the obsessive LotR, BtVS, Charmed and Supernatural crossovering we get with Harry Potter.
I would have to say 4/5.
Not his best work but then his best was Evil Be Thou My Good, and it takes a lot to equal that.

Ahaha, that was crazy. I enjoyed it, interesting and fun to read, for the most part anyway.

A bit odd, but amusing nonetheless. Not one of Ruskbytes best but good all the same. 3.8/5

I personally loved this fic, second only to his Evil one. Both were excellent, yet I really loved the humor in this.

    5/5

Back in the day since I've last read this I thought it started out really well and was promising; but it's worse than dead at the moment. 4/5 nonetheless.

Holy shit, talk about resurrection, I can now feel better about all the ancient fics on my favs list that I vainly hope for a update from.

Nothing ground braking but an enjoyable chapter, not sure if he intends to turn this into a full story or if he is just testing the waters.

I'll take updates to Ruskbyte's stuff as they come. We may see another one in a few years, after all.

True. I have long given up on seeing a new chapter of Culture Shock. Still, it was nice of him to give us something to read for the holidays.

Ruskbyte updated this story with an epic-length Ch. 3, detailing the entirety of Harry and Mandy's first year. It's available on both FF.net and his fanficauthors site.

Was excited when I saw there was an update, now I'm just disappointed.

Ruskbyte was fantastic in the past, but nowadays he seems to be resting on his laurels. His recent stuff has been underwhelming. The term 'mailed in' seems appropriate, especially for this chapter.

It just wasn't that funny. It's mostly tell and not show. Most of his jokes fell flat, and best ones were ripped off from movies or other stories, (e.g. his "sea turtles can help you escape anything."0 For me at least, there was only one really funny section, quoted below:

“It’s the future,” observed Mandy, staring searchingly into the mirror, “and I hold dominion over the entire planet. The commoners call me Mandy the Merciless, and I’m feared by all.”

“Well,” said Harry after a short but incredulous pause, “so long as you haven’t turned into a hideous, disgusting, worm-like creature to do it.”

“I’m scary enough as I am,” Mandy assured him.

    “Good.”

“You’re my most loyal and trusted retainer, loved by all,” she added.

“Wicked,” grinned Harry, his earlier dark mood almost entirely forgotten.

“What about me?” asked Grim warily.

“Don’t worry, Grim, you’re there too,” admitted Mandy.

    “Damnation.”

“After all, someone has to mop the floors.”

    “Insufferable girl,” grumbled Grim.

“What d’you see, Grim?” asked Harry, curious to know what his other best friend might see.

Mandy graciously bowed out as Grim moved to replace her in front of the mirror. She huddled next to Harry, the bitterly cold weather prompting her to stand closer than she normally would. Pulling her dressing-gown tight she leaned against him, just barely touching, and muttered soft imprecations about being forced to live in a building whose internal heating was akin to that of a refrigerator.

“An endless graveyard, wit nuttin’ but headstones from horizon to horizon,” revealed Grim after a few moments of examining the mirror’s contents. He paused and then pointed, “Yours and Mandy’s are right dere, in de front.”

    “That’s... morbid,” concluded Mandy.

    “Just being optimistic.”

All in all it was meh.

That's about right. The first chapter was freakin' amazing - the first just can't live up to it, although I still enjoy bits and pieces of it. Grim Adventures was an old fave show of mine, after all.

As much as I enjoy Ruskbyte's stories, he makes me feel vaguely uncomfortable. I mean, Something Grim is probably the cleanest of the stories he's updated recently, and even that doesn't even last six goddamn paragraphs before lingering on 'the slight swells' of an eleven-year-old's 'prepubescent breasts'. And then you've got his grimdarkified version of the same story where the eleven-year-old protagonists engaging in anal sex is brought up several times and you've just got to wonder about Ruskbyte.

You know, that's a good point - I remember thinking it very odd that all that was included the first time I read it, but mostly ignored it the first time.

I wasn't really phased by the whole loli/pedo vibe Masters of Death gave off what with being the Master of Chill and all.

I remember going through Ruskbyte's profile and reading this back in november. I remember finding it amusing but I've forgotten most of it by now. Not amusing enough for me to read it all over again just to be able to understand the third chapter however.

And I've finally found something awesome that's come from South Africa. Yay.

    Aside from Jack Parows hat.

Solid 5/5 rating for me. I don't get the pedo references you guys are labeling this fic. Prebuscent breasts and its instantly at kinsfire's level?

On top of the several eleven-year-old buggery references in his other fic. I'm not saying that he shouldn't be allowed to live near a school, I'm just saying that I'm saying there's a pattern emerging here.
