I get what your saying, and for the most part, agree; nobody wants to see their hero suffering and people don't really want to read about it. For instance, he sees Cedric die as well as being tortured and a few nightmares are talked about - enough for our curiosity to be filled, but on a real level, isn't. I mean, someone died in front of him (wizard or not he was 14) and there is no mention of him getting counseling or anything like that. I'm getting off track of the abuse train, but this is what I'm pointing towards, the books pick at the idea a little and pretty much leave the rest to our own imagination.
