Hold on to your lunch, this is freaking AWESOME!
The commute of one worker, 1786 feet straight up. Don't watch this if you are afraid of heights!

    or :awesome?

    I can't decide.

The last part made me want to buy them a drink. A very strong, expensive one.

I saw that today, and while I'm not afraid of height, this really is something else. Free climbing at over 1700ft? At one time without a proper place for your hands?

    These guys deserve my respect.

Holy shrinking balls, Batman! This kind of thing makes you appreciate your desk job a little bit better.

How do you think those guys get down once they're done with the maintenance?

That'd be pretty practical. And badass.

I was thinking the same thing, not to mention it could save their lives if they fall, but watching video I didn't see any parachute bag and narrator said there is no fast way down if there is a storm. They probably don't want any extra weight when climbing.

Hoy fucking shit. I'm not afraid of heights, but there is not enough money in the world for me to do that. @_@

Well, maybe for a hundred million dollars and a harem of Jessica Alba, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, and Emmy Rossum, I would consider it.

Now, I always thought that I'm not afraid of heights, but this shit is hardcore. I wonder how much they get paid... Probably something around the minimum wage with no life insurance.

    Hardcore.

I'm not afraid of heights. I am afraid of free climbing higher than, say, 30 feet, falling, and landing on cement. 1700 feet, and you couldn't pay me enough because I WOULD DIE. I'm a pretty good climber, but I know my limits.

Any idea how many people die on those things? I could only find articles on how working with that sort of equipment causes cancer.

That video is awesome though, doing that as as job... Heh. Not something I'd do :p
Especially the way it's filmed. Helmet cams ftw.

Reminds me of Alain Roberts. I'd love to see a helmet cam from him ;]

Oh god. My hands got all sweaty just from watching this.

I have no problem with heights when I'm reasonably safe, but free climbing? Holy shit.

I saw this video a couple of days ago.

    Fucking insane.

Too be honest, I'd absolutely LOVE to give this a go, as long as it wasn't free climbing.

Even if it was... what a way to die. Could almost be worth it.

I don't consider myself to be afraid of heights, but damn. I could probably get up there but I'd have a hell of a time getting back down.

    Impressive, nice link.

Just watching that video gave me the vertigo - tells much about how I would never do that. With all the things that can go wrong...

Did you see how at the end, the metal bar at the top was trembling! Damn, that thing doesn't seem very... safe.

I know some people who've done this, and they said they got paid by the foot. It's scary as fuck, the towers themselves move a ton swaying all over, they're designed to.

    No thanks.

^Not to mention how windy it'd be up there. Could just sweep you away. @_@
