Really looking forward to getting back to the OG episodic format with SNW.

Discovery is an absolute dumpsterfire at this point and I want it to die. I haven't been able to get through even 3 episodes of the current season.

Picard is mostly enjoyable (Season 2 just kicked off with a fun premise), but it's really only because Sir Pat Stew and Jeri Ryan are such joys to watch. The overarching plot of the synthetic struggles was just pure meh.

Honestly, Lower Decks (comedic spoof) and Prodigy (blatant kids show) are the best Star Treks on TV right now because they stick to the formula.

    And goddamn't, the formula works.

I'll be honest, the huge turn off for me regarding Discovery and Picard was the DUMB grimdarkness. This is a franchise that doesn't, shouldn't do dark and edgy to such level.

I quite liked discovery before that weird alternative reality thing. The show got much worse after that.

I think that the problem might have been that the story lines all tracked over multiple episodes, where in say TNG most episodes were stand alone in the first few seasons.

Lol, I had hopes that the alternative reality thing might save the show. But I could never get through what existed to get there.

I’ll definitely give this a go, but I’ll stick to lowing expectations.

I really like the first 2 episodes of this new show.

So far, the characters they've shown have been interesting.

Also, I won't lie. As a Kenyan. Hearing my country get so many references in a US science fiction show makes me feel really nice.

    LOL.

The only weakness in the show so far is the tough soldier woman character.
He character is just grating to me and really doesn't fit into the rest of the characters on the ship.

I also really liked how they approached the 2nd episode's challenge.

The crew didn't try to force their ideals on anyone. They simply found a creative way to do what they thought was right.

    Good stuff.

I hope they keep this up and keep the fate stuff in the backburner for now.

    It wasn't bad...

Which is high praise for NuTrek.

Not a big fan of the angst interludes where Pike staring off into the middle distance breaks up the flow of the episode.

Since I don't trust anyone involved with the current incarnation I fear that next season will be nothing but Pike angsting about how he is prophesied to die, while the entire crew hangs around present day Vancouver for no reason.

5 eps in and this show is still excellent.

They actually managed to make an entertaining 'Body Swap' episode. I am impressed.
