Ok, sold, I'm not saying he's in Lee's league... but maybe he can be and this would be a great place to start.

Also yeah he'd probably be awesome.

Can we please have no Chewie

I prefer humans to non humans, a bit too long spent in the company of 40K fans perhaps, but I honestly don't want some walking pile of hair that screams instead of using basic, it's quite frustrating.

Christopher Lee was Magneto? I thought it was Ian McKellan.

That... could actually be pretty awesome. That's a casting choice I think I could get behind. Of course, SW fans would shit bricks if it happens. Not only would the man who directed the last couple Trek movies (counting the upcoming one) be in the proverbial captain's chair for it, the man who played Kirk in both would be in the not-so-proverbial captain's chair.

It would either bring the fandoms closer together, or re-ignite the internet flame wars that haven't been seen since sites like stardestroyer.net lost all their following and relevance.

IIRC, didn't that third X-Men film use CGI to de-age Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan? If so, why not do the same for Harrison Ford so we have an authentic Han Solo through the films?

It was a really bad CGI deaging. Patrick Stewart's skin looking like it was completely fake, poreless, and shiny. McKellan's wasn't much better. After the CGI people were done, they both looked like they got the worst facelift in the world... much like... uh... dammit, what's that old comedian chick's name on E! that always talks shit about everyone on the red carpet at the Oscars? She's had like fifty facelifts.

Uh, no. No no no no NO. The man has no charisma, none of Harrison Ford's swagger and personality, and has the acting talents of a damp brick. He was easily the worst part of the Star Trek reboot and he doesn't have any business approaching Star Wars. NO.

I'm more or less with Silens on this.

I didn't like him at all as Kirk. But I'm not sure how much of that is because I'm a TOS fan (so it was weird seeing anyone else playing the characters) and how much of it was him just not doing a good job.

Though for the record I don't think he had the best material in the world to work with either, given that he was playing a Cadet who magically ended up as Captain at the end (that is the main thing that pissed me off about the remake -- in no military ever would that shit have happened).

    /end rant.

I also hope it's not Chris Pine. I'd rather it be that Shy kid (w/e his name is) that played Mutt in the last Indiana Jones movie. That'd still be a far cry from perfect, and there's likely better options out there, but he's the one that immediately comes to mind as possibly being acceptable.

I thought he was the best Kirk incarnation we could have expected but then for some star trek cultists even attempting a reboot is sacrilege. The film does the fundamental thing right in capturing the essence of the characters. My slight disappointment with the film was the underwhelming main plot but then which first film series introduction doesn't concentrate on characters than a complex story. And which Star Trek movie plot was really more than ordinary. Looking back at these mostly extended TV movie productions even my favorite Star Trek 6 has aged horrible. A fate I don't think this movie will meet but then maybe I'm wrong.

I agree with Han Solo and Kirk being really different personalities. Kirk is far more driven where Han is more a cynical survival artist.

A younger Russel Crowe would make a good Han Solo.

A new Han Solo? Thought this would be obvious...

Harrison Ford to Reprise role as Han Solo

Not completely confirmed yet, but seems close to being official.

As for a good young Han Solo; I might get some crap for it, but I think Ryan Gosling could do a decent job at it. He hasn't really had to play such a character before, but that doesn't mean he can't.

Ryan Gosling was awesome in Gangster Squad, I'd watch him as Han Solo.
