Fallen Order is single player, story driven, and no micro-transactions.

 

I'll believe that when I see it launched like that. Not buying into the hype of anything EA has touched, ever again.

 

Star Souls: Forceborn Die Twice is coming.

 

Hmpf...

Trailer looks good. I'm interested.

But the main VA is Cameron Monaghan. This isn't a negative per se...but it's going to be really difficult to hear the main character speak and not think of the Joker from Gotham.

Doesn't seem to be an RPG...just action adventure. If it's as good as God of War or Spiderman I'll consider it.

 

I love that guy. It is also a little uncanny how much 'Cal' looks like him.

Really does look great. Inquisitors aren't the most threatening of dark-side big baddies, but meh. Maybe they'll make her (ninth sister?) interesting. Also, dat music.

 

Was there more than the one trailer in the beginning?

Gonna be honest, it didn't do much for me. And the snippets that looked like gameplay looked... old.

Obviously still early etc etc.

Sidenote: Apparently the Inquisitor is Second Sister, not Ninth. Has had one small canon appearance in a Vader comic.

 

I liked the vibe I got from that trailer. It didn't tell me bupkiss about gameplay or anything, so I'm hesitant to make any real judgment calls, but I definitely like the style they're going for.

It feels like a God of War 4 or Spider-man style Jedi game, and I'm down for that.

 

Battlefronts were so unsatisfying, and it's been a decade since Force Unleashed. I'm really just looking forward to anything that lets me feel like a fucking kung-fu master Jedi again.

 

That sort of game would definitely be nice, but doesn't seem like it would be in EA's wheelhouse with how hardcore they are on making all their games "live services." By all reports, if it's not an always-online multiplayer game that can have a skin shop and/or lootboxes, EA won't make it and will shut down your studio for suggesting it.

Maybe their string of genre failures has finally taught EA a lesson. Or, more likely, maybe Disney is so fucking pissed off at them over Battlefront that they're in danger of losing their licenses without a success. It's been "confirmed", for whatever value that has, that Fallen Order will be single-player only, with no multiplayer elements, and no microtransactions.

Most likely, Respawn walked up to EA, unbuttoned their fly, slammed their giant Apex penis on the table and said "We're gonna make a game, and there's gonna be no bullshit in it". EA then sighed, looked at their catalog of IP and said "Alright, fine. We need the good PR with the Star Wars IP anyway.".

 

I'm going to refrain from going crazy over what does seem to be Star Souls: Forceborn Die Twice until we actually see some gameplay.

 

Some of the interviews and journal info indicates they are taking inspiration from Dark Souls and Sekirou

Parrying like in Sekirou was mentioned. I’m down.

Honestly, I get much more of an Uncharted: The Force Awakens vibe from the promo material that's been released so far.

I'm totally down for Sekiro: Jedi Edition though.

 

E3 is in 2 months. God E3 already? Time really flies when your life is boring.

That's hopeful, but I can't shake the feeling that EA find some way to be horrible at this point. Even if they don't go back on their word, there's plenty of room for things like, say, a Lightsaber customization DLC and a Character customization DLC. As long as they call it DLC, and structure it as such instead of as microtransactions, it's not technically breaking their promise. Or just carve out chunks of story/gameplay, only to sell them back as DLC later.

Cool as the trailer may look and hopeful as the promises seem, I just don't trust EA.

 

I don't either. It being published by EA is the big hesitation for me, and why I'm definitely gonna wait on reviews before buying it.

They're making the right noises at least, but that's really all that can be said.
