Au contraire: acting the incompetent to make us underestimate them is a tried and true tactic... just like pretending to be the 'rational one' as you so ardently wish to be seen as.
Scum just seems like a good all-around word, since KaiDASH could just as likely be a particularly stupid DArk Renegade, thus accusing him of being a Seperatist would be innacurate.

    I detect a bandwagon forming.

It's become well accepted that your first day lynch both has to happen and is pretty random. To that end, Schrodinger seems as good as any other person. I see no reason to split the vote at this stage.

    Vote player: Schrodinger

Roleplaying was fun, and this game is about having fun: if it means I die that much faster, well, there's no accounting for taste.
Well, I have school tomorrow. Goodnight DLP.

If I shall die before I wake,
I pray the Force my soul to take.

Aside from Taure role-playing and turning out Anti-Town, do the role-players actually have a history of being such, or is your statement based upon a few glaring examples that 'prove' your case? Just curious, because I only distinctly remember Taure, but I do remember others doing a bit of role-play until they started getting derided for it(just not distinct names off the top of my head). The frequency was higher in the other Star Wars game though, I think.

Also, as for the usage of "scum", I personally prefer the more specific words "Pro-Town" and "Anti-Town"(shush, Irene, that was one of the faults in your argument), or even the usage of the actual word "suspicious".

Anyway, I thought it would be wise to at least post, thereby indicating my presence, before going to bed. I got a new game on Friday, and have already clocked in nearly 28~30 hours(save-file says 34 1/2, but my brother played for a while too). I'm sleeping early, so I can get to the campus early and finish my work before class.

So... as for a lynch target. While lacking something like Lump to derive opinions off of before a lynching, it is difficult to easily decide on someone. Voting for a role-player simply because you find it annoying seems even less meaningful than voting for someone simply because they are an infrequent poster. Still, I suppose it's better than nothing...

At least we actually discover roles upon death(night kill potential clean-ups aside) again.

Also only four of us are role less innocents, the rest of the town is useful one way or another, so we should be sure before we kill people to death.

That said, Schro looks like a pile of steaming elephant shit.

I don't think Schrodinger is Scum - just annoying. It seems to me that the people to look out for are those that quickly jumped onto the Schro bandwagon to get a quick townie kill to start off the game.

Taure's post reeks of Scum trying to do so.

    So for now, at least:

As someone who faced so much trouble in the last SW game for RPing, I'm surprised to see you of all people voting someone for the same crime.

As for me, I can't vote for Schro just yet. I don't feel like I have enough information to lynch him. It simply goes against my morals to badmouth someone who can't defend themselves.

On the other hand, KaiDash leaves a bad taste in my mouth. He's been a tricksy one from the beginning and tosses out lines like "Actually, scum wouldn't say what I said, since scum..." so that he appears to be an authority on scum. His willingness to dispense obvious knowledge and quick steps towards the soapbox only serve to reinforce a negative opinion for me.

Of all the people so far, KaiDash seems most suspicious to me. That said, I still don't feel like I have enough information yet. I will wait some more, listen, and take advantage of the 17+ hours or so we have left to decide.

P.S. KaiBaby: More pineapples in your diet, kthnx

Hmm. I agree with Custer. While it'll be easy to bandwagon on Schrodinger, I think I'll wait for a while. Though chances of Schrodinger's lynching are looking to be pretty high.

KaiDASH, on the other hand, is offering forms of "Scum wouldn't say this, scum would say that." explanations, which is simply more suspicious than over the top role-play.

The point I was making is that if I was scum, I wouldn't do that because it's a stupid thing to do.

If you want information (from me specifically or everyone in general) feel free to ask some questions.

Finally, somebody who has a modicum of common sense. Obnoxious RP =/= "Scum tell"! It merely means they are an annoying person who isn't the brightest bulb on the ceiling. However, it's not the same as lurking.

Case point: Fenraellis, you asked whether there was another case of RP-ing leading to scum accusations? I'll direct you to SW1. Klael got lynched for RP-ing and misusing the word "Rebel" when he meant "Empire". Moreover, a lot of pro-town people (including Lutris) also RP-ed a little. Why? Because it's fun, dammit. Some of us are STAR WARS fanboys, believe it or not.

KaiDASH has a history of not liking RP-ing (because he's a robot), and you can tell by the lack of zesty flavour for tinyhunt's opening. I can understand why he might be so anti-RP (even though I still think he should explore his RP horizons more). However, I am immediately suspicious of everybody who jumped on the lynch bandwagon because of Schrodinger's RP-ing. Yes, Ashaya and Sesc. My eye is on you. We all did it in SW1.

In fact, I'll flavour my text with some RP-ing now.

"While our great Senator Amidala attempts to renegotiate a bill, we must be vigilant! Jedi ambassadors, trust the Force and lead us through this Separatist insurrection."

    /end of pretentious RP

(Zeit is also miffed because he wrote the screen crawl for SW2, and wanted more people to appreciate flavour)

Schrodinger isn't completely innocent, I speculate. He did jump and vote for Ashaya immediately as soon as she expressed her distaste for him. Starting lynch bandwagon cannot be the smartest strategy out there. Still, I'm rather reminded of Klael/hgf from SW1, where Klael jumped and voted for hgf (a Rebel) and everybody else voted for Klael (innocent).

If everybody is still hung up about Schrodinger, I say that the Probe should investigate him just to clear the air. However, I do not advise lynching him solely for RP-ing. Instead, focus on other targets.

Taure simply strikes me as somebody who supports a lynch bandwagon simply for the sake of a lynch. He strikes my scum-dar, but not enough to warrant a vote. Sesc and Ashaya seem more suspicious. The former, especially.

I'm not sure why you think someone innocent randomly voting for someone guilty vindicates them. Like, it's basically a shot in the dark either way at this point.

    edit by dbl post

And I'm not annoyed by RP references (like what lutris did in his de/sw posts). The full on RP posts Taure/Schrodinger style are what's annoying as fuck.

What the hell guys, are we really going to waste a day and lunch a random person without even questioning anyone else? Its only been a few hours and he already has half of the required votes for lynch.

If all the pressure goes on him, then other mafia members won't feel obligated to speak up/ slip up. Even though its day 1 and most things are conjecture at this point, that doesn't mean the foundation of the future days isn't build on day 1. (That was a really poorly written sentence...)

I voted for Schrodinger not because I truly think he is scum (though I do hope he is. It's doubtful that he'd be stupid enough to RP as scum, I think, though), but because the RP-ing is annoying as fuck.

If that makes me suspicious, so be it, but his roleplaying was obnoxious! Also, I was in a bad mood. Hopefully I'll wake up and he won't be lynched, as more people still need to post.

Agree with Custer, roleplaying, even if it's obnoxious, should not equal in an immediate death sentence.

I say we let him be checked by the probe first.

    Thoughts so far:

Statistically, Schrodinger is likely innocent, as are all first day lynch victims. But I think it's been established by now that a first day lynch is needed to get the ball rolling (yes, Merrill, I admit you were right). Schrodinger makes as good a first lynch target as any (that is, almost entirely random), and who knows, we might get lucky. I'm slightly suspicious of anyone who tries to avert a first day lynch because we can't be certain of guilt - at this stage, we can't be certain of anything.

Relic seemed keen to turn things around and stop a bandwagon, but I don't think he's scrum. Although some hold as a metagaming convention that you shouldn't ever defend someone unless you know that they're innocent, I don't think this has played out on DLP. Relic seems to be motivated by reason rather than some goal.

Zeit made a massive Tl;DR... but given that this is Zeit playing Mafia, that doesn't mean much.

Kai seems to have changed strategy dramatically. Not sure what to think of that. But then again, I've changed strategy dramatically too - because this time I'm not actively trying to get myself lynched. What's Kai's motive? Is he trying to achieve something, or is he just giving a different play style a go for fun?

Right now my main suspicion is on Nemrut. He's deliberately spreading uncertainty, trying to split the vote, is advocating a day 1 exposure of the mechanic, and is advising unreasonable caution (saying we need the probe to lynch).

---------- Post automerged at 09:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 AM ----------

Sorry, should be "a day 2 exposure of the mechanic".

Now that I'm home from mindnumbingly boring presentations at uni today, I have a few things to say. I'd been intending to stay relatively quiet for at least Day 1 following tinyhunt (b.c. of likely scrutiny of posting patterns as potential scum, or from scum's viewpoint, that I'm a relatively high profile target following my lucky tinyhunt win), but several points have bugged me enough to warrant posting.

    Several points.

While I do appreciate your wariness on Lynching without reasonable cause, the fact that you validated your claim by citing your morals irks me just a bit. This is especially true because you then go on to say you suspect Kai with similarly flighty logic despite your earlier claims to dislike it.

This is a game where you're supposed to lie and deceive to bring victory to your faction. Morals have no place here outside of good sportsmanship and adherence to the rules.

In certain circles, the term 'scum' is used to describe the antagonistic faction in Mafia game offshoots. Sirlin.net, where KaiDASH (and myself, for that matter) borrowed tinyhunt/lesstinyhunt off of, is one of these. I.e., the Witches were a scum faction in tinyhunt, Death Eaters the scum for DEs, Rebels scum for SW1, and so on.

While I certainly don't intend to whiteknight KaiDASH on Day 1, the fact that you base your suspicion of him on the basis that he acts as if he is an authority on the games is worrying to me. He is an authority on Mafia games - including playing/reading scum. If you hadn't noticed, he formulated tinyhunt for DLP, ran it, and also was a competent Witch in Lesstinyhunt (despite being ousted by Irene's nearly psychic reads). Indeed, he is one of the authorities on Mafia games here, and his posts should be scrutinized regardless how scummy he feels.

I feel remiss in pointing fingers so early in the game, especially considering that we have a large enough player base that we can afford to start slow to kill off Separatists. I'll wait until more people have posted, and indeed, may not even Vote today unless a Lynch becomes likely or someone jumps out at me as being scummy.

    For now, silence. Or not.

Also guys, the sudden drawing of attention to me? I don't like it. I don't appreciate the namedrops making my profile higher, although I guess the point is moot after this post.

See, I was going to try to stay low profile. You people insist on namedropping me and making stupid posts though D8

I only mentioned you because zeitgeist did first (also wtf my phone autocorrects zeit to zeitgeist) did first.

Also what fun is there in being 'low profile', get out and make waves!
