On one hand you have the sickening cash cow treatment, on the other you have the possibly awesome 3D original and prequel trilogy.

Would only watch the OT in 3D and I hope they manage to create a good 3D experience. Like in Alice In Wonderland or Avatar.

Who am I kidding, as a huge lightsaber whore, I will probably see them anyways....

And I don't even like 3D that much to begin with. :/

Because secretly, everyone is a massive consumer whore.

I, on the other hand, have been militant and violent of my non-buying of 3D bullshit.

Jesus fuck, unless its like the 3D shit in star wars, where you don't need glasses, fuck this shit.

Now excuse me while I down gallons of Pepsi, nomnomnom some Frosted Flakes, and play sumdat Playstation 3 and Xbox360. (I secretly made $500,000 on this advertisement post.)

It's nearing 1am down here, and now I have to go to the gas station and get me some Frosted Flakes. Its like $8 a box, you whore.

And I have to walk due to copious scotch intake.

    Pepsi is womenz Coke!

Come on George Lucas, don't you have enough money yet? I respect him for his work, this is getting ridiculous.

3D in cinema is not a pleasant experience. (Except in Avatar, that I admit, I enjoyed.) Those bulky Dolby 3D glasses are a constant irritation, and it prevents me from focusing on the film.

It even game me a headache ten minutes into watching the Owls of Ga'hoole in Imax, making it an awful cinema experience.

As far as Star Wars is concerned, I will never watch a movie where Greedo shoots first.

    Fuck. That. Shit.

Also, Boba Fett's voice change was bullshit too.

Not to mention all of the random new special effects they added. "Look, a giant animal blocking the screen for no other reason than showing cool special effects!"

This is all before we get into how retarded making it in 3D is.

Lucas is such a shameless whore. :facepalm

    Edit:

They can do whatever they want with the new trilogy. It's already such a steaming pile of shit that they can't make it crappier.

The studios have supposedly talked about only shooting stuff in 3d or Imax for while now. They can charge way more for the tickets, and it's not much more expensive to make is the argument. They claimed in some industry magazine I was reading at the doctors office awhile back that it'd bring piracy to a "grinding halt" since the pirates wouldn't be able to release stolen prints from the studios or theaters and actually have it be watchable on home computers.

The only 3d I've ever seen that actually SEEMED like 3d was Curse of Darkcastle at Busch Gardens. That shit used IMAX height screens, 3d glasses, and you were essentially on a roller coaster for added effect. I cannot describe how fucking awesome that was, and I'd never pirate anything ever again is all movies could be like that. But sadly they'd rather use shitty 3d tech on movies instead of doing it right.

They're not going to release everything in 3D, if only because many theaters either aren't equipped for it/refuse to do 3D shows. For a little anecdotal evidence, up until recently there were three theaters within biking distance to my house (now only one sadly), and none of thew showed 3D movies. Not a one. I tried to see Avatar in 3D, and they didn't have it available! I had to drive to a theater like 20 miles away to see it.

I have like 4 within 10 minute driving distance, and all of them have it, and they're old as shit movie theaters. That's pretty much normal in anywhere I've went lately to have at least one showing 3d movies, dunno about your area.

There was also talk about allowing on-demand or set-top box services to stream movie premiers into your home for $30+.
