In TOR, everyone, EVERYONE is a hero. It isnt a rehash of the KOTOR games where it focuses on you as a Jedi. It's an mmo, and every class has to be equal.

 

I don't know much about the Smuggler class, but they must be pretty crap if they don't have any weapons apart from blasters. I mean, I used grenades to take down Force users in KoTOR, surely they can use something similar here?

Or would that be too complicated for the little kiddies who want to be Han Solo?

Not to mention he reuses Malak's death line ("As the darkness takes me, I'm nothing..." -- which, you know, doesn't even apply here because he's been "redeemed"), he looks pretty derpy (referring to both his face under the mask, though that may be because this visual style they're cultivating is very cartoony, and his costume, which has these massive shoulder things and lacks a cape now) and his voice is... not what I was imagining.

I just can't wait for this upcoming novel to come out and show us how he got to this point. :facepalm

You know, what was the fucking point of even having the option of making Revan a female, or choosing between light and dark in KotOR? Obsidian made it so that whatever you chose carried over, and Bioware can't do the same fucking thing for their supposed "masterpiece?" seven years later?

Also, I haven't seen anything related to KotOR II yet. They're probably ignoring it entirely. Pah.

 

That just shows how stupid this nerfing of Jedi and Sith really is. If you can't shoot somebody, whether they're behind cover or deflecting your shots, you can always throw a grenade.

It's almost as if Bioware trying to make a generic MMO, where you right click an enemy then spam the number row.

I read his post, and my point doesn't change. In-game balance does not necessarily require everyone to have the same abilities and weaknesses as everyone else. This is an RPG. You're not playing Call of Duty; not everyone has the same amount of health. Look at TF2 - the Spy does nowhere near as much damage as the Heavy, has nowhere near the amount of health; yet he's just as good, because he can cloak and insta-kill from behind.

 

I'm not concerning myself too much with gameplay. People say it's too much like WoW or whatever, and, you know, I've never played WoW, or any other MMOs really (except Runescape...) so I don't really give a shit. If I do end up playing this game at some point, I'll just deal with it as it comes. I'm far more concerned with the story.

And yes, balance is a necessity for an MMO, which is why all the moaning about Force User vs Non-Force user is redundant.

I actually referred to AP because I can't seem to grasp what you are trying to say in your previous post. Not a native English speaker, but this is the first time in ages I can't understand someones point.

As far as I can understand, you are complaining about the fact that in this case the Smuggler class has different weapons. A tad presumptuous to complain about mechanics and gameplay you have not tested yourself, nor actually watched.

 

I'll have to find the quotes again but they said point blank he was canonically a male and he went lightside in the end and that was their intention from the start. Choosing between Light and Dark was just kind a standard Jedi thing to them that they were going to add no matter what and the option to make Revan female was just something they thought they'd throw in.

I will decide to hate/love the game only after playing the beta.

 

The different classes DONT have the same weakness and advantages. The Jedi Guardian has more health and armor than a Smuggler, but deals less damage.

Furthermore, a FPS emphasizes skill. If I am better than you, I will win. Period. But in any MMO, gear, level and abilities determine how good you are and thus there needs to be balance. Canonically, a Jedi's lightsaber can cut... almost anything. If the game played that way, why be a smuggler or bounty hunter? I can 1 shot everything?

Edit: I just watched the video of the Foundry flashpoint. Yeah, seing Revan die like that sucked, but we have to remember two things.

1. We dont know if he really 'died' there, as we dont know what comes after.

2. It's Star Wars. Iconic characters die all the time. Hell,

Well, you have to remember that Revan has been said to be one of the best Jedi's to exist even passed 4,000 years ahead of his time. I'm certainly a Revan fanboy myself, I'm also a Grand Admiral Thrawn fanboy as well (notice my signature picture).

If I do end up playing it, I'm probably going to pirate it (or something... I'm not sure how it works with MMOs, to be honest). I'm sick of giving my money to Bioware and getting shit like Dragon Age 2 and this back for it. At this point I'm even hesitating from buying Mass Effect 3.
