For every single fucking game, there's a bunch of people who find something small and specific that they dislike about it, and they continually spit their hatred of how the game has been ruined, and that they'll never buy it.

Nothing is ever going to make everyone happy.

Either way, I won't be playing the game for quite a while it seems, as Bioware isn't going to release it in Australasia until maybe even the next E3. Such bullshit. If there's something to whine about it, it's that imo.

 

I'm definitely playing it: for all my bitching, it's still a Bioware Star Wars MMO witha decent development time. Maybe it'll be okay.

This is one bright side: no matter what happens, I doubt TOR will have as much shitty canon rape as TFU.

 

There are so many problems in these two sentences that it is going to take me a while to even touch on all of them.

Its biggest problem was that it was a shitty series of "meet the [character]" mini-quests rather than an actual game. And the fact that they turned it from an RPG/3rd person shooter into a straight "Hey, isn't it weird that the galaxy is made up of nothing but narrow hallways?" 3rd person shooter. And the fact that they raped their own backstory in an attempt to shoehorn ammo clips into the game mechanics and make it more like a conventional shooter game. Or the fact that its story and characterization was incredibly shitty - not by Bioware standards, but in general. And the fact that they decided to put in a retarded amount of worthless DLC. This is all off the top of my head, as I haven't played the game in more than a year, but when I actually played the piece of trash I had more.

As for making a shittier characterization not being something that a lot of people saw as a terrible move...are you kidding? I'm betting 90% of the people who went to see Transformers 2 didn't think that the complete absence of characterization was a bad move either. They built something great in the first game and destroyed it completely with the sequel.

You're less than impressed by the argument that completely raping a universe and destroying the story by flanderizing everything and everyone is a step in a definitively downward direction? Well, there's not much I can say to that.

You do have a point about ME2 Fiat if you take the strict standpoint of looking at the game as only the sequel to Mass Effect but personally I like to think of ME2 as the really really really god damn long prologue for ME3. Everything about it screamed "we are setting up for Mass Effect 3" from the game consisting of almost nothing but introducing and getting to know the characters to the messages on every damn loading screen saying "Remember don't delete your data for this game kids, ME3 is coming soon!" The game was nothing but a way to the roll into the finale for Bioware and it showed.

 

Which would be fine, if it were a piece of DLC along the lines of DA: A. Hell, I wouldn't be a fan of it but I wouldn't be pissed.

Instead, it was marketed as a full $60 game when it definitely was not.

On the release date: I'm pretty damn excited. Guild from WoW is reforming for TOR, bunch of us pre-ordered, have followed the games development etc, and we're ready to hit the ground running.

This thread is about a game made by Bioware - it is the opinion of several people in this thread that the game in question is shitting all over starwars and appears to be a shitty game in general. Of those people, several hold the opinion that it is simply one in a series of shitty games produced by Bioware and that the whole company has gone down the crapper.

TL;DR: the conversation is, at worst, mildly relevant and you can go fuck yourself.

Ok. I don´t understand why you people rage so much about this game because in the end it is just a game. Nobody forces you to play it.

I like how TOR looks. The only MMORPG that played was Guild Wars so I don´t have that much experience. But I still the graphic, the characters and storyline look ok.
I believe that Bioware can tell a good and interesting story with believable and likable characters and for me this are things I want in a game.

And yes, I liked ME 2.

 

No, but it exists. It's there. And it's giggling and taunting, "I'm not touching you, I'm just hovering near you annoyingly! Oh look, four level-30 random adventurers just stole Revan's pants and are going to sell them to some two-bit merchant on Alderaan! Umad?"

And it's ruining the only time section of the EU that's been more-or-less uncorrupted. The New Sith Wars era's left I suppose, there hasn't been too much set there besides a few Bane-centered books. As well as the 25,000 years from the Republic's inception up to the Great Hyperspace War that's been mostly untouched. Though in my opinion they never should have made the Republic that old. There's just too much.

EDIT: Was linked to this video regarding subscription fees that people might find interesting. It's Guild Wars 2 centric, but the issues addressed can apply to SWTOR too.

Well, they definitely ruined Revan. Made him into some impotent bitch of 'the emperor'. I hate paying to play games past the initial purchase anyway, and now that TOR has ruined one of the coolest Star Wars characters ever, I'm not going to play this crap at all.
