I played this late last night. It was a pretty decent game, if a little long. See what I mean about DTs?

So, I had an idea...Dunno how well it would work or not.

Basically in 3v3 and 4v4 (maybe even 2v2) you have at least 2 'toss players who use cannons to lock the opponents in their base(s). Basically like a cannon rush, except you're not actually entering their bases, just preventing them from leaving (with any ground units...). Your other team mates would then build air (to get in the opponents' base(s) and take care of their air units of course...). ??? Profit.

Yeah, I know. Stupid idea. It's 2am, and I'm tired.

@Solomon: I've always known DTs rape. This just further proves that fact. :awesome

I actually locked someone in his base with a million cannons in a 1v1 before. It ended with a base trade. I only won when I sent my Void Rays to kill his army. This was back in silver, though.

The zerglings video from earlier has made me really want to try a 3v3 or a 4v4 where everyone has shared unit control, then you could assign jobs instead of having everyone do everything and trying to coordinate it.

I.e. One person could do Militis' cannon idea while someone else was controlling the same player's probes/base/etc. One person could work on expansions for all 4 players. The remaining two could be purely unit/attack related. Or something.

That would be awesome. I'm down.

I'll be the macro player...I suck with Protoss, and wont even get started on micro...

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work. As far as I know, shared control only affects units, not the ability to spend money. So only the microing aspect of that setup yields results, which is why it's so strong with strats like triple 7-pool.

After a team member left during my last 3v3, I took over their base (yeah...I was feeling lucky and played random...got Protoss - my weakest race; he was zerg so it was :awesome luck). It spends whatever money they have, not yours. Which is good, because I got mutaowned and lost all my probes and nexus before my stalkers quit dying before they even warped in. I had no income, but he was rolling in the mins apparently. I couldn't see how many he had, but had no problem making ~20 hydras. It got VERY confusing when it kept telling me I needed more PSI. I was like...wtf? This is using MY supply? But no, it just uses whatever race you are for voiceovers and shit.

The macro player could expand all over the place, and just send money to whoever is making the units. In any case, we'd have to try it out before we can call fail or not. :p I bet if we got the best of us microing the units, we would be able to own up the ladder. (Deja vu...)

It's a shame they don't tell you how much money they have.

Also: you have to wait a few minutes to start sending resources, Militis.

Played 9 3v3s total. Only won 2 of them. I think those are only with people from DLP too, lol. I've lost all my "random partners" placement matches so far. Just got triple 7pool rushed (and held off the first attack). I think I could have done better if I had pumped a few more drones to turn into spines. Also could have done better if my partners weren't complete fucking morons. I warned, right when the game started, we'd face a trip7pool rush. What'd they do? Tech straight to cannons/ghosts (Toss/Terran partners). I can understand the cannons, but he still should have made a few zealots. The Terran player...I just don't even

Anyone up for some spirit-lifting games? I'm tired of shit partners.

I'd totally be up for that if the Bnet servers weren't down for maintenance again. :/ Insofar as the separate roles for a 3v3 goes, the best way to implement that would be in a triple 7 pool or similar rush situation. You give control of the rush to one player, and then one player drones up and pumps another player, who makes units, and the third player micros and uses extra resources to drone up.

It's just randomly disconnecting me. I just gave up in disgust. Hopefully it'll stabilize later.

Actually, I heard they were extending the beta until early June; but, that could just be a rumor.

This is just driving me nuts. Anyone have any ideas on how zerg can hold off a zealot/marine rush?

You'd have to go superfast roach, I think. Like...7 pool -> get two drones instead of ovie -> gas and roach thing -> hopefully enough roaches/lings to last (and with the recent nerfbat to the roaches face, you have to get ovies too...), probably still on minimal income. After you defend the first wave (and if you have some attackers left over) move out and crush their workers to bits.

Warning: Above is untested, and I am by far no expert at all. Use are your own risk. I'm willing to help test it though. :awesome
