I'd be down for a Starcraft day. We should do it sooner rather than later, lest it never end up happening. Does anyone have a problem with doing it tomorrow afternoon (NA people of course)?

Whoops. Well I at least was late because I had paperwork to turn in that I wasn't aware of before leaving for spring break. So, yeah.

I'm just curious what a few of the people here who are actually good at the game think about the "new" (not so new anymore, but still damn effective) two base collosus/voidray pvz build that's been making the rounds (mentioned here if you can stomach the obvious bullshit and bias).

I've been using it on my Euro account lately (which I didn't use from day one, and there for isn't forever bronze because of my being an idiot), and it seems damn effective.

I've yet to see someone do the seemingly obvious step of including mutas in with their attack on it, but it seems that it would be a relatively simple matter of cutting voidrays and making more stalkers (though out of 3 gateway or so I'd have, it would be hard to keep up).

Anyway, thoughts?

 

Interesting, can you effectively two base colossus/voidray and maintain good numbers? I'd imagine that to be a pretty gas intensive build (200 per colossus, 150 per voidray) not to mention the minerals, do you early expand? How do you keep zerg from just coming to kill you before you can reliably get your second base/army up? Also, how is your gateway count while using this build? Colossi and voidrays typically do not do well by themselves without considerable backup from gateway units.

I guess I'm just rather surprised that something like this can work off of two base gas. I think a big reason that zergs have not been fielding mutas is because of the gas (100 per muta) intensiveness of it. Zerg just need that gas elsewhere. Finally, have you seen the day9 daily on mass queens?

EDIT: I just remembered, how do you deal with harass? Colossi and voidrays aren't exactly fast units, especially after flux vanes got removed. You mentioned only having 3 gateways, that and your other gas intensive units imply a relatively low stalker count. Well controlled muta harass may be a big problem.

Surprise, surprise korean progamer Ace destroys aussie moonglade 3-0. Finals tomorrow will feature Ace vs Moon (ex W3 player. Probably the best in the world). Should be fucking epic. Esp, considering that Ace is undefeated so far (13-0).

Also bleh, Koreans once again dominating everyone in their path. Why does anyone even bother.. /facepalm

It's not that they're Korean that makes them that good. Remember, HuK, IdrA, and Jinro are all really fucking good now. It's the Korean practice houses and practice style that makes them that good.

You just aren't going to beat someone who practices 8 hours per day with teammates unless you practice the same amount. Laddering is not good enough (which is something HuK should slow down on).

Well ofc Koreans aren't born with a genetic advantage . However, no other country has embraced esports to the degree that South Korea has. So, in a sense, it's actually that they ARE Korean.

As for European and American pros .. my spider sense tells that they're going to get slaughtered. And that's by lower tier Koreans. The true SC II pros have not branched out to the rest of the world yet.

Not to mention the BW pros. Where 300 apm is considered low ~.~
