I still can't get over the fact that Font made a legit push on Typhon early on for doing less of what she and Von had been doing.

I was already feeling good about fluff for his entrance posts, and even more so because this vote on Typhon occurred when I thinking Typhon could be scum.

(I thought Typhon's early game jokes were more of the "hello fellow townies, I, too, am carefree and town" scum type of joking.)

Okay so.

This reads as very different from what I said. font is eh, she's a woman of fewer words, so it's hard to argue for her read, but she can defend herself.

This comes off as a kind of "hey let's hop on this town!fluff wagon because Vaimes and font are doing it and correctly identifying townies is what townies should do!" read. And his "I hope you keep up the towniness" just comes off as...appease-y is maybe the wrong word. I got a very distinct feeling that Typhon wanted to townread fluff to get fluff to place his vote elsewhere, especially since font and I had piled on so quickly.

Looking back, maybe the townread on fluff was a little blown out of proportion, heh. Still think he's town though.

Also, I totally disagree with this.

fluff was being fluff for pretty much the entire game in TH. I was eyeing him for what looked like a very awkward first post, but after a while it became apparent that fluff was town. And then I had to spend the rest of the game beating down scum!fluff reads with a stick.

fluff probably just looks more town to Typhon now because he knows fluff is town. That in combination with me and font townreading him super early probably resulted in TMI'ing.

 

Part of it is that the "I hope" shouldn't need to be stated. Every townie hopes fluff will engage more. Writing it down is only done to look towny.

You don't get to make public townreads, push that townread on everyone else, and then jesus toast someone's post because of the way it was worded and use that as an excuse to scumread them for the rest of the game.

It's actually pretty legit, considering scum have to fake reads. Catching them TMI'ing or hopping on what looks like an early consensus read for weird reasons is a viable thing to do.

But Typhon saying that fluff is being more obvtown here than in last game is false. fluff is doing what he's always done, just a little more frequently.

Other thing is that that exchange srsly flashes me back to TH6, featuring town!fonti, town!Atum, town!Kai, scum!me

The way Typhon gave the read on fluff is comparatively awkward to me, particularly with the different background that he has with his fluff than those two do.

Vaimes I'm sorry if my borderline asshattery was perceived as crossing some sort of line. Completely out of game, I hope you know that I would never do so on purpose. Equally not going to apologize for my reads, but I will admit that your wall is weird for me - I didn't really expect that at all. Still think there's a fair chance you're scum here, but I am actually willing to back off for now.

fontisian To both you and Vaimes, we're not lynching me. I get that you feel like you've seen something, and I'm perfectly willing to take being drug and then sassed into better play post-game woth plenty of digs at how shit I played this game if we're all town. I kinda hope that's the world we're in - I'd love for my reads to be shit and you guys to be on my side. But this is not productive.

So if I'm backing off of Vaimes for now and my other scumread is out of commission, looks like I'll be in the market for finding a scummy sort in my null list. Anybody have any suggestions? I'll read them before I choose when I come back.

Which, like, I flash back to that more because of fonti than because I think Typhon's fluff read is as awkward as mine was. But I can see where she was coming from with it.

I think this is like the inverse of me wanting to be right at endgame in TH and yelling for Fluff's head - I'mean thinking because you were right about him being town, you're forgetting how scummy his like 1 read post in the entire game was, how he was always watching the thread (apparently, judging by he always responded when spoken about or to quite quickly) but never posting content, how he occasionally pushed something on me when I was under fire early but immediately dropped it when it gained no traction, etc.

Activity was not the only reason I was scum reading Fluff in TH. It wasn't even the main reason.
