I guess they're still staying around the Stargate, from where Rush was yelling at people to stop running around turning shit on. With the power constraints and the fact that a good part of the ship is still wide open to the vast and unyielding vacuum of space, there'll be a lot of the ship left unexplored. Which is good, because it gives them some room to introduce new plot points as they're needed to keep the show interesting.

How much of the city was left unexplored by the end of Atlantis?

By the end they'd explored the majority of it I believe, they just didn't understand msot of what they found straight away.

I think they mentioned something about it being an older model of ship. Like the difference between the original Enterprise and the Enterprise-E. Or, for a less nerdy comparison, it's like the difference between a Ferrari F430 and a Jaguar XK120

    ...Okay, so the latest episode...

Are they trying to make Chloe as unlikable as possible? She bitches at her friend for being with her ex yet she was fucking a random dude she met two weeks ago.

    Lol.

Though I suppose if it was going on while they were together...

Anyway, these stones are starting to annoy.

    Awful show is STILL awful.

Gave it a shot, and frankly its just not worth my time.

    Lets sum this up.

    Characters:

Rush and Greer are still awesome.
Chloe is still a whiny little cunt.
Eli still needs to grow some stones.
Lou Diamond Phillips got laid for 2 seconds.

    Cool shit that they've done

    Flown into a sun.
    Greer shot a dude.
    Greer hit a dude.
Rush owned Lou Diamond Phillips and his team.
The guy from Happy Gilmore offed himself.

At the end of the day this show always comes back to Rush and Greer for me, I wait the whole episode for one of them to do something cool, because I know that nobody else is going to.

Once they get a mission or goal it might improve, but right now it's just crap.

The next episode looks to be the most promising one yet.

Eli growing stones, just how would that work?

Meeting a different girl, Being the guy planet side that had to do something dangerous,
Having to make that command choice while Rush is "sick"

Have one of the other stars leave the show (die)and have the writers grow stones for him?

I think they should cut our this Earth soap opera stuff right now and give use ship soap opera stuff instead, but what do I now?

They need to Find some space junk and start fixing that ship.

Finding a Down on the luck trader (han solo or vala not Neelex) to be a local guide.

They need a Benny hill style food gather mission, rushing around in the woods picking strange apples and running from funny looking animals.

    Nah, it would never work.

I think it's safe to say that if you're not enjoying SGU now then chances are high that you never will. Especially if it's the focus on soap opera stuff rather than action which is annoying you. That isn't going to go away any time soon, because that's what this show is all about.

I'm still going to watch it though. I'm not sold on the Earth stuff yet and the slow pace is killing me, but when all the backstory has been laid and a few more characters have been built up, I imagine things will get a lot more interesting. Some of my favourite shows started off slow in their first seasons, but improved rapidly once the writers found their feet and there was some character history established.

Last episode was fun and we now know why the communication stones can't be used to permanently swap in another team. Having an interruption while they're doing something needs constant attention or to be done as soon as possible could be disastrous to them or the ship. Ditto for an interruption while their body back on Earth is doing something more mundane like running across a road or driving a car, where being disorientated for a couple of seconds while you work out what's going on can still end up getting someone killed.

I don't think I like the communications stones plot device. They're convenient for keeping the cast connected to Earth, and introducing external events and subplots. Otherwise SGU will just be a combination of Star Trek TOS/TNG ("Save the ship from the threat of the week") and Star Trek Voyager ("Get home"). But I see them being overused and probably introducing all kinds of implausible twists when the writers need a gimmick.

Every previous SG series has been dominated by a war with some adversary. So far, there is no real adversary in SGU, just internal politics and a vast distance to Earth. It's completely unlike any of the previous franchises, and not in a particularly original or creative way. The cast has yet to engage me. Frankly, I don't see this one lasting long.

I have to agree with the communication stones hate. They need to tie up a few plotholes there.

As it stands, its an excellent introduction to Stargate. The CGI in it is absolutely phenomenal.

    Destiny looks amazing.

Rush is awesome. I'm starting to like Greer a little bit more. Eli needs to act a tad more intelligent. Young is starting to grow on me. Scott seems... lets just say that I'm undecided atm. I liked him at the start, but its getting worse. Chloe has just been getting worse and worse as it goes on. Hot though.

I'm looking forward to seeing where its going however.

I'm in the middle of SG1 atm, watched S1, skipped a lot of s2, watching S3 now. Its getting better, thank god, because S1 was terrible.

    Huh.

Well, I liked Earth. Drunk Chloe was rather funny, and Telford's a jerkass.

    Hmm...

The FTL stone jumps were lulzy. The other dude was like WTF HE'S USING ME TO HAVE SEX. Senators daughter should've been a red coat.

Eli finally might get his ass into gear. Rush looks a bit better but on a whole, nothing has really happened apart from them being attacked, getting to destiny, having a bit of a squabble, using the stones, going through the stargate twice and two suns. No major plot points have even been revealed, well apart from the premise of Destiny. Kind of boring to be honest.

Yeah, I'd love to see Eli getting his ass into gear.

And that switchback was creepy as fuck, with him suddenly finding his own body deep in someone elses pussy.

I'm curious as to what he is going to say to Young's other, as the last scene was quite interesting in that regard.

And the second switchback, as Young comes back to realise Telford finished the job for him...

I'm betting money just to be a dick to Young, Telford is going to go dick that woman while pretending to be him.

Yeah, the shitstorm when Young finds out should be fun to watch. Especially if Young brings it up with the powers that be on Earth, only to have them come down on Telford's side.

If that happens, then this show really isn't worth it. As it is right now, I'm just hanging in there for formalities sake.

These things take a while to get off the ground. So I'm going to watch the first season, and probably a bit of the second to see how it goes.

I'm honestly enjoying this more than SG1 at the moment, so I don't know what ya'll are complaining about.
