Just fics that have an as-close-to-canon-as-possible Dumbledore. He doesn't have to be the main character in the story either.

 

Denarian Trilogy has a superb Dumbledore. Of course, if your on this forum and sharing the same name (partially) as the author, you are probably aware of that story.

 

Harry Potter and the Untitled Tome

This story is in For Review. While it's an alternate where the prophecy doesn't exist and the Harry Potter world is markedly different, Dumbledore's character is really, really well done, and sticks quite close to canon. A lot of the 'adult' passages are told from his POV including quite good representations of the Hogwarts Board of Governors, and Dumbledore's interactions with Lucius Malfoy and Elphias Doge (this is the only story I've ever seen him feature in), McGonagall, Snape and Shacklebolt.

As for the story itself, if you can make it past the very early portions where Harry is in an orphanage, you will find a really engrossing story. I've yet to leave a review or rate it as its 22 chapters and I'm working through it, but it's an easy 5/5 for me.

The One He Feared by Taure features a good characterization in a way.

 

Newcomb's fic features a pretty alright Dumbledore. Not sure if he is still working on it though.

Dumbledore is close to canon character in On the Way to Greatness, especially in the later chapters where he features more prominently.

 

I'm going to ego and suggest my own since they generally get commended for this.

I'll definitely second that recommendation. Conloadh's song didn't do all too much for me, despite the fact that it's brilliant, but that was probably because I read it directly after BTDL. And BTDL utterly blew me away. Along with On the Way to Greatness, it's the only other piece of fanfic I asked my best friend to read, who isn't a fan of the premise of fan fiction.

He was equally impressed, to put it mildly.

 

Echoes of Power: Part I, Anger has an extraordinarily good Dumbledore (and, frankly, most characters). It's got a lot of cliches due to it's age and the context in which it was written, but it's probably the best thing to ever come out of SIYE, and definitely has the best Ring scene in the entire fandom.

 

Forging the sword has a good Dumbledore. Although he doesn't feature that prominently in the fic, when he is shown you really get the sense that he's the inscrutable mentor figure that he should be.

its hard to find a good dumbledore fanfic. Some people make him way too evil or too inadequate. I think the author Aurette does an amazing job on him and all the characters.
