Oh yeah, I remember how annoyed I was at muggles somehow easily fighting wizards. Definitely not rereading it

 

This fic was my favourite when I read it and it still holds up pretty well for today. I haven't seen such briliant Voldemort in any other fic. He's shown as not only just some kind of magical powerhouse with psychopathic tendencies but also as incredibly charismatic man, capable of ralying many others to his cause. In addition, he's very intelligent and truly a great schemer. Voldemort almost succeeds in the end due to those factors and not because of some "mystic dark rituals" or other boring and overused device. That is rare even for today's fanfiction.

Moreover, Jono's duels are still some of the best in all of HP fanfiction. They are so vividly described that it is easy to imagine them as scenes from a really badass action film, set in HP world (one can only dream...). In my opinion, only Shezza's duels were so enjoyable and fun to read.

Of course, as many people stated before, our tastes have matured and we no longer find something enjoyable as it was before. Harry's stupid need to drag his underage and untrained friends into a war or his attempt at Gandhi tactics when facing Voldemort's forces really piss me off now.

Despite its quite a few shortcommings, it's still a very good fic. Too bad Jono disappeared a long time ago. I still remember when some DLP'ers tried to backtrace him from his Yahoo account. Anyway, sorry for what may be a useless post but I just couldn't resist when I saw the word "Stranger" in the thread title.
