She's in and out of Grimmauld Place in OOTP and Harry calls her an Order member after his Sirius nightmare.

Huh. Now I feel like an idiot. Was she in the Order during the first war though?

Another stupid theory I hear from Ron haters: That Harry is actually some secret genius and that Ron is the only thing holding him back, that it's all Ron's fault that Harry is not a top student as if it was Ron who forced Harry to not study more...

It was a way of combining two concepts entrenched in fan memery. There was no way of convincing anyone that Ron wasn't useless chiefly because of the way the movies depicted him. At the same time, you had this necessity for Harry to get more powerful, and much more quickly than should really be possible.

For concerns about specific facts and details, like McGonagall being in the Order and when, the wiki generally has it right. If they have it wrong, feel free to correct them with a citation.

    All of them.

And not just in the HP fandom.

I have never liked any fan theories, to be honest. The worst offenders are the people who make theories about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because they get more and more outlandish and all of them are eventually proven wrong.

Almost all of them are proven wrong. The fact of the matter is, if you guess enough different things, it stands to reason that you'll eventually get a theory that's really close to being right. Some of the predictions continue to make more sense than what actually ended up happening. The trouble is the ones that were wrong just get forgotten and take up space in a server somewhere.
