    The gym classes are excruciating.

Ohh? I love them. Theres been a lot of rather epic moments there imo

I'm thinking for example of when he started catching the balls thrown at him by big snake. And also especially that first fight with Winston where he decapitates him. that whole gym sequence too (even the pep talk heh)

I've been re-reading some parts of the story, lately. Sleyca does write amazing banter, Boe and Lute are hilarious and some of the side characters have some memorable quips.

A professionally edited book containing the story up to the end of Moon Thegund's arc would be top notch fantasy fiction. I agree the serial loses a lot of steam after that, comparatively. The flood arc felt too much like a repetition of Moon Thegund, and I'm not feeling the supers school subplot either.

Still enjoyable, though. Dialogue, world building, intricate, well-thought out little plots with some clever Chekov's guns here and there... It's a bit like a good sitcom.

6 stars till Anesidora, drops to 3.5-4 afterwards.

Moonbase arc was indeed fantastic and really gave me hope for the rest of the story. Dialogue is great. Characters feel defined.

Then school happened. I've been trudging through these chapters for days. There's barely a single point of tension, let alone actual conflict. Say what you want about the writing quality, but this reeks of web serialization and not in a good way. I don't want to say milking for Patreon, but... yeah, no, that's exactly what it feels like. This is ridiculous levels of absolutely nothing happening.

It makes me think of The Wandering Inn, which is not a perfect story, but one thing the author is really good at is balancing slice-of-life and action inside individual chapters or short arcs, so you (usually) get some of both every week.

Super Supportive will do months of action chapters and then months of classes before going back to action. It doesn't bother me that much because I enjoy both sides of the story, but I can see how it would be a pain to follow if you only liked one or the other.

I like the slice of life filler for the most part tbh, but I absolutely despise the gym class segments which eat up half of it.

I don’t like the gym classes either. I am fine with low stakes slice of life social arcs but I really want Sleyca to follow up on plot threads, not even the highest stakes ones necessarily but the social plot threads that really wouldn’t make his life much more intense.

yeah I’m sorry, but the wandering inn sucks and comparing it to super supportive is lowkey disrespectful.

I’ve also changed my mind on my previous rating. As a self contained sci-fi novel up til the end of the moon arc, super supportive is a 5/5. Overall, I’ll still give it a 4/5, relative to the rest of royalroad, but since the moon arc, the pacing has slowed to a crawl. And, yes, though the latter half story would immensely benefit from an editor—and any sort of conflict—it still deserves to be in the library imo.

IMHO for overall writing quality and consistency Super Supportive wins, but SS never quite reaches the level of WI's best moments or its depth of worldbuilding. There’s nothing in SS with the same emotional depth and impact as (for example) Pisces's
    slave
arc, Relc's assignment to Cellidel, the Siege of Liscor, the death at the end of book 7, etc. There's no villain in Super Supportive like Belavierr. I enjoy Super Supportive a lot, but the Innverse is just a much vaster and deeper world.

This one is a 5/5 for me, and one of the few Patreon subs I have maintained for an extended period of time. I don't mind the slow nature of it, but the Thegund arc remains top tier compared to the rest of the story. The slice-of-life portions are enjoyable to read but it doesn't get the blood pumping as much. The flooding section was pretty solid too, again due to the action.

I have really enjoyed the time spent into how Artonan's differ from humans. I have really enjoyed watching the friendship between Stu and Alden develop - it's rare to see such care put into a friendship, and I am there for it. Gym is a bit less fascinating, but it doesn't bother me as much as some.

Anyway, yeah. It's not perfect but for me it's a Top5 on RR.
