I just had an epiphany (although I'm not sure that Kripke will find it important): In the SN universe, demons are damned souls who break and become the torturers, right? Or rather, eventually everyone in hell will break and decide to be a monster rather than a victim. So, the number of demons is constantly rising. As long as more humans end up in hell - the *total* number of demons is climbing. Steeply. There are an estimated 6.7 billion people on the planet, and approximately that many more who have died just in our period of written history.

A LOT of demons and more all the time.

On the other hand, there is no indication that more angels are coming into existence. Castiel (and Uriel) only mention their losses.

I had two ideas to this:
    1. All the more for the angels to kill along with Lucifer.
Or 2: Good people ascend to heaven and are remaded into angels. That would be an easy way to bring back the parents and Jessica into the brothers lives. Could they fight against what was their own family?

All demons were originally human, but the actual process for becoming one hasn't been spelled out like that. There's also a decent chance that not everyone is chosen to rise (or fall, as the case may be) to demonhood. Somebody's gotta be razorbait down there, or how would you pass the time?

As for angels, I'm not totally up on my biblical lore, but my understanding is that there are entire armies of them. And given that God conjured them into existence to begin with, there's no reason he couldn't make more if he felt it was necessary.

Of course that's impossible if God is MIA, as he appears to be in the SN universe. A more interesting question might have to do with the prophecy that the angels expect Dean to fulfill.

Castiel said that whoever began the Apocalypse would be the only person who could stop it. Does that really refer to Dean, since he broke the first seal, or does it refer to Sam, who broke the last?

Most likely it'll turn out that they're both needed.

Look at the name, it should be obvious.
Apparently, the actor who was going to play Luicfer hasn't been picked, because the casting the call for him just came out.

Jason Isaacs fits this role perfectly. You are telling me you are going to deny this man the role of Lucifer.

    Lucius, Lucifer. Close enough.

I'm also thinking of the guy that played Sark on Alias. Now that was a well done bad guy with ambiguous motives. I'd love to see what he could do with this role.

Edit: Supernatural needs to stop killing off all the women. There hasn't been a single lasting female role save for Tessa and we've only seen her in two episodes. Seriously, what happened to Missouri? She was cool.

I wonder why Lilith, Azazel, and Co. never tried to use Sam's dead girlfriend Jessica against him. It's been too long at this point for her appearance to have the same punch that it would have during S2, but she's an odd loose end.

Funny I always thought Lucifer would have dark hair.

I honestly can't wait, i tried to go back and watch my old Supernatural DVDs and well, watching poltergeist being salted to 'death' was nowhere near as entertaining as watching 'Monster at the
end of this book' and seeing the brotthers' reaction to Wincest (i.e. Sam/Dean fiction )

Lucifer is supposed to be the epitome of perfection. The beautifulest of all the Angels. I can imagine him with blond hair, blue eyes, that sort of thing.

I guess they cast him as blond because he's supposed to be the Light Bringer, which is usually interpreted as fair-haired and light skinned.

Hard to imagine an Asian Lucifer.

Heh, now we know why he got kicked out of heaven. It wasn't the rebellion, it was the cherub fucking.

OT: Jacko has a sign at the entrance of Wonderland saying you have to be this tall to ride Michael.

    Bad jokes ftw.

I guess I see the Lightbringer as reddish-blonde, with blue eyes.

I've been watching Supernatural enough that I just suddenly *realized* that Times Square is a crossroads. It actually gave me a chill.

I wonder if God's inactivity might be an opportunity for the Angels to develop free will? If I remember correctly, free will was the final gift to Man, the one thing that was denied to the Host. Perhaps the Creator wants the angels to choose to serve Him willingly, as opposed to simply out of habit. Presumably even an angel or Archangel couldn't actually know the full mind of God. Who knows how long the Creator has been out of touch?

But God's total disappearance is (IMHO) never going to be explained. Disregarding the fact that he is God and can do whatever the fuck he wants, some of the things the angels have done in his name have been despicable and it's much easier to let them take the blame than to have to go through the ancient never-dead question of why 'God lets bad things happen' . I don't think we'll ever see him or even if we do it'll be like that season 2 episode were Sam and Dean were arguing about the existence of angels, only to have someone die in what looked like Divine Retribution, in other words He would probably appear in an indirect and subjective manner.

    Damnit, I missed it *again*!
What curse hit the guy with the winning lottery ticket?

Also, I think it would have been interesting and different - the nebbish wishing the cute girl would fall for him would have been SO much cooler if it had run in the opposite way. If the girl had wished for him, instead...

So, so far confirmed returning/appearing in Season 5 we have

    1. Meg-Same character but not played by Nikki Aycox this time, will be done by Rachel Miner
    2. Jess-Same actress but only one episode confirmed near the start of the season
    3. Ellen-not confirmed what exactly her role will be but its been officially announced she will be appearing in Season 5 for more than one episode
    4. Possibly John, this isnt confirmed though just lots of rumours going around about him talking to Kripke
    5. New recurring character the Archangel Raphael, he appears first in the third episode apparently
    6. There are various other new characters but those were the interesting ones to me.

I think they already have it. How else do the top angels send out their orders, if God isn't there?
